Mr South Africa or Mr Vukuzenzele Hoerskool 2014

SIGH! Where do I start with this Fiasco.

I really didn’t want to write about the Mr South Africa Pageant that took place last week at EnGedi Lodge because it was a disaster in my eyes but I could not keep this any longer so here is my view.

I feel the Mr SA title is more like a High School competition, it has really lost its value and a few people are aware of the pageants existance.

  • I think if it weren’t for Ditiro JC folks would not have known about this Mr SA thing…including myself
  • I fail to understand how a person can be a CEO of an organisation such as MrSA, wants to be part of the panel of judges, celebrates a birthday party and invites all the 25 finalists AND as if that’s not enough wants to be the speaker at the main event… Like what happened to Delegation Rudi Baker. I’m sure you could have delegated these roles to other people as they are extremely conflicting
  • And you could have had time to look for repuatble sponsors… if Mr SA wants to be as reputable as 10 years ago someone needs to look at this!
  • The venue (EnGedi) was small, perfect for intimate things not a pageant that is supposed to pull masses.
  • Contestants looked more like Models than male models. I think they should have entered Mr gay South Africa Instead.
  • The MC’s for the show were people not known and they were sucking at the job. I believe in giving others a chance but they could have hired a good well known presenter to team up with an aspiring one. In that way the aspiring learns quickly, instead of two bad readers.
  • Yes, I believe the lady presenter (whose name is could not catch) is daughter to the head of PR Worx whom happened to be the judge at the main event… And a person would think you find nepotism with politicians.
  • The stage was too small
  • Instead of hiring real artists or musicians to entertain us, they called upon Karaoke singers. Like who does that. Lloyd Cele was the only real artist and he tried to revive the situation but he failed.
  • Another reason that makes me think Mr SA is more of a High school event is when, they were supposed to announce the Top 5, it appeared not all the names were there, and we had to wait until that was fixed. There was an auditor on site! *sigh*
  • One thing that stood out for me was the food  one of the best food I have tasted, from started to desert I enjoyed.  Nom nom
  • To show this Organisation is struggling…they had a cash bar running through-out the duration of the show. I doubt there was an after party and if there was I would not have know.
  • Seating arrangement was a mess.
  • Contestants’ outfits were horrid except swimwear by Reeebok.
  • 80% of the white contestants decided to give us their profiles in their native tongue…Afrikaans (andadikwa bethuna) I suppose they were taking advantage of one of the 11 official ones.
  • That’s All!

Congratulations to Armand Du Plessis, Morne Marais (1st runner up) and Sibusiso Sibanda (2nd runner up)
