FIVE THINGS I’M CURIOUS ABOUT!
By Bubu Mazibuko
1.
Let’s start with the current bane of every South African’s existence. EISHKOM! What I’m curious about is very simple. After all these power cuts, and all the loss of income for those whose businesses depend on electricity…Are they then going to meet people halfway and deduct a fair amount off electricity bills or are we just going to continue to fund the elites lifestyles while we’re scraping for pennies to get by? (And that’s if we can count those pennies in the dark). We could learn a lot from Haiti! #LetThatBrew

This one’s a bit similar to my #1. So DSTV claims that when it rains in the US or rains at your grandmother’s place in Limpopo somehow that affects the reception of your dish wherever else you may be in SA. What I want to know is why I’ve never EVER heard any of my friends based in the US (even in the trenches or Alexes of America) complain about their cable signal tripping even when hurricane Katrina’s at work?!?! Hai DSTV, for all the repeats you bombard us with as it is, get yourselves together too or also #PayBackSOMEofTheLostTimeMoneyWhileYourSignalWasDown. What if it rains every day? You’ll be billing us for nothing at the end of the month!

Look. I’m about building wealth for myself and every penny counts. So when I am at a store cashier point, and have paid what was due, I expect whatever change is due to me too. Yes even if it’s 20c .Don’t assume I can live without it. The store has a lot more money than I do, so why would I give them free money? It’s not like I’ll get that carton of milk if I was 20c short either. Bottom line is, even 1penny is money and it all adds up. Donald Trump will tell you the same thing!

What does #Sona need the red carpet proceedings for? Can we not skip that and get to the point?! So many important issues to cover I reckon, and it’s like watching a fancy Guy Fawkes parade. #JustCurious.

On a lighter note. Once I reached my mid/late 30′s, I learnt and decided that I am never going to buy anything on credit or lease or fake owning anything I actually don’t! And that lesson came from being bombarded by debt collectors calling every waking min. But what I’m curious about is; what people’s excuses are when these debt collectors call with private numbers? (by the way, in my case that’s the only reason I didn’t like private numbers, #CantPayBackTheMoney). Mine used to be…..”Oh, she’s in hospital for depression, you won’t be able to talk to her…” (meanwhile, back at the ranch).
