Billed as Africa’s first dance movie, Here Me Move! movie premiered last Wednesday at the Newtown Junction Shopping Centre in Jo’burg. The event was graced by some of the prominent names in SA’s television industry and half of Jozi’s population. The venue was packed!

It’s refreshing to see such great support for local productions.

The film introduces us to new faces, some more actors than dancers, and others more dancers than others. Kuyajikwa! The music is pumping, crazy dance moves galore and the energy in the air tangible *Said in Khabo Nina’s Voice*. We have Muzi

(portrayed by Nyaniso Mdezedze, seen here with Thembi Seete)

and his rival dancer Prince (played by Mbuso Kgarebe, who is not as angelic in the movie as he looks here),

Bontle Modiselle as Muzi’s love interest, veteran actress Sthandiwe Kgoroge superbly plays the role of Muzi’s mother, and Lilian Dube the grandmother. Other prominent faces in cameo roles are Thembi Seete who hosts the main dancing competition, and Amanda du Pont, Lorcia Cooper and Trevor Gumbi who sit on the judging panel. Wandile Molebatsi also has a role, and is co-producer of the film as well.

We will not get into details about the movie, so as not to spoil it for those who intend to go out to see it. But the overall experience was good. It’s a well told  story, with impressive dancing, and the acting better than expected from a relatively large unknown cast. The soundtrack of the movie actually stands out – quite fresh and beautifully selected eclectic music.

Rumour has it that there’s already talk of a sequel. Well, we’re not saying you are counting chickens before the eggs hatch, but we wish the film great success at the box office, otherwise a sequel would be quite a cross to carry, with Easter being just around the corner, wouldn’t it? The movie will be out in cinemas on the 27th February 2015.

Here are some pictures of those spotted at the event:

TV & Film legend Mme Lilian Dube was in attendance. She has a smaller-nyana role in the movie…funny woman that, totally cray-cray.

Proud sister Refilwe Modiselle came with her mother and youngest sister to support Bontle.

Speaking of Bontle, doesn’t she look a bit like a meatier Queen B, before her yellow-bone era? Maybe it’s the cheap vodka I’m drinking.

Rosie Motene rocked afro-fabrics and a hunky guy by her side. We are not even going to ask anything, we are not about that life anymore. Hallelujah?

Amanda du Pont is one gorgeous lady! Simply beautiful.

Pabi Moloi looked skinnier, happier and overall stunning. She didn’t wanna tell us her secret to her weight-loss WOHLOZA

As Zeeba once pointed out, where there’s Lesley Musina, there’s bound to be Bonga Dlamini, and indeed he was there. These two are actually such sweet souls, always pleasant.

He must be greasing his legs before getting into those jeans, how else does he manage?

Generations Reunited – Nambitha Mpumlwana and Zolisa Xaluva and Zabalaza’s Matli Mohapeloa.

Here’s a full length shot, in case you were wondering what they looked like, down there.

Linda Sokulu and Nkuli Sibeko…Nkuli used to play the role of Dana on SABC 1′s hit comedy City Sesla. Mzansi is truly blessed with brilliant actors!

Loyiso MacDonald from Zabalaza. Hands off ladies, he’s a married man. As if neh…

Team Sweat Ten Tauzen – Lorcia Cooper. O fit ausi ona hle!

Thando Thabethe is quite experimental in what she wears. And she gets it right, most of the time. What do you think of this look, are you feeling the beads? I’m indifferent.

Tumi Morake , Nat Ramabulana & partner.

Phila Madlingozi, Katlego Sefuthi and friends.

Newbie in the industry and Craz-e Presenter Lwando Mbelu. Isn’t he just nunus?

Is that Thandy Matlaila and friend? Am I a prude for thinking Thandy looks a bit too casual? The friend naye would have looked so hot had she opted for heels. Anyway, what do I know! Still a wonderful and very charitable lady that Thandy.

Thembisa Kani is…words fail me on this one..I get Holy Cross Choir vibes from this look.

Motlatsi Mafatshe and his stylish new bride Millicent.

One of the 4 Ms Earths for 2014 Michillay Brown, tjerr ‘muhle lomtwana!

Hotness on heels! She’s just too pretty.

Dancers are such show-offs! Look at me, i’m standing on one foot, instead of on 2…tltltl

Boogy Maboi – she styled the actors in this movie. She looks interesting herself.

Pentjisi

Sexy Khanya Mkangisa. She’s nailing her role well on Rockville, pun unintended.

So, are you gonna ditch the porn movie of the moment and support this local initiative?
