As you may know that JC folks were out of the City this past week-end and we were unable to attend certain events including this one…so I asked for help from MisFlo and this is her story…
We made our way to the Emperor’s Palace Centre Court on Saturday 27th March 2015. The event was small and intimate, or it could be that people just didn’t show up. It was fun though, with Khanyi Mbau and Adam Levin as some of the judges. The head organizer Thenus Van der Walt made a little speech, thanking all the sponsors and promising the finalists a whopping R12 000 each… Performances included Thembi Seete’s beau Bo of Denim and Tamara Dey. More entertainment was from Mrs Funny herself Anele Mdoda who was Mc for the night. She did a great job. Werner De Waal(Mr Gay South Africa handed over his title and sash to this year’s winner Graig Maggs, his co leaders are Mortimer Van Der Westhuizen and Siya Khumalo Mortimer vd Westhuizen and Siya Khumalo who was the only black contestant among the top 5 finalists.
A few people werent happy that the winner was white but then again there was hardly black contestants there. Besides, Siya is hot but too short, lol. The event was also a bit ill organised, there were technical glitches every 20 minutes and the announcement of the winner was an anti climax. It was almost like “oh by the way Craig’sour winner”, the fireworks or whatever we call it came out before they could announce the winner which I think ruined the moment.
