It’s the month of August, a month to celebrate and make time for any issue that’s women related.

A couple of weeks ago, Marie Claire launched its #MCInHerShoes Campaign where they got male celebrities posing in high Heels. By now I am sure you have seen pictures of local celebrities with battered faces circulating on social media. Actress and Presenter Thando Thabethe is on a mission to stop violence against women and children with her #MakeItStop Campaign.

THANDOShe got a few female celebrities to help her spread the message. She says; “#MakeItStop, a campaign I wanted to do last year, that has finally come to life. I witnessed my mom being beaten at the hands of my father for most of my childhood. My father btw was the most INCREDIBLE parent, filled with love and everything a good parent is. This in a way is a tribute to both my mom and my dad. My mom for soldiering through it, for coming out stronger and harder. My dad for what I know HE knows was his biggest flaw and ultimately led to his death by suicide. I cannot #MakeItStop on my own…a huge thank you to all the amazing ladies who took part in this.

What really makes me applaud Thando the most is that, her father used to abuse her mother but she still praises him for being a good parent. She has no hate in her heart for him no matter what he put them through. I wish all those people that post negative stuff about their fathers EVERY Father’s Day can learn from her and accept things they can not change, just so they can free themselves from all that anger. :-(

11Thando will also be hosting a Women’s Day Netball Challenge this Saturday on the 8th of August, at the UJ Soweto Campus in Johannesburg. They will be raising funds for Bethany Home for Abused Women. Please check her social media pages @Thando_Thabethe for more info.

Well done Ms Thabethe on taking a stand and doing something for the next person.

I just wonder how loud do we have to scream or how many campaigns should we have for people to actually listen and stop doing wrong. We go through this all the time. When something drastic happens we take a stand, toyi toyi, wear pink, wear black, do this and do that….but for how long? Lawd knows Rhinos are still being killed and we have millions of people with double plastic Rhino horns on their cars. The way children are still being molested and killed is frustrating. Women are still getting beaten, raped and killed. Cases of domestic violence never end. What more can we do for it to really really really STOP? I personally haven’t seen any change. I feel like it gets worse and worse. Maybe it’s just me. :-(

Guys, not that this was a competition but I think Manaka Ranaka nailed this shoot hey. Look at both her images. So convincing.
