Molite Productions is back with the Third Annual “Remember Your Roots Benefit Concert”.
This event begins in Soweto on 03rd of March, and hits Havanna Lounge (Westonaria) from on the 4th – 05th of May 2013. It features names such as Mafikizolo, Zakes Bantwini, Ralf Gum, Donald, The Soil and well over 30 top music and DJ names over the weekend.
The Remember Your Roots Benefit Concert, a brainchild of Reggie Govner Nkabinde, seek to mobilize, equip, organize, engage, empower, celebrate and work with the Communities & youth and the arts to promote cultural harmony and wellbeing for a more cohesive and richer society.
In 2011: blankets and groceries for 170 grannies were donated in the location. Three young people were also assisted with Bursaries to further their studies.
Last year’s efforts included a renovation of a house of an orphan and gave groceries to 160 needy families. Also, soccer kits to football teams and a church in the community were donated.
This year’s action plan which follows from the identification of the needy community within the Bekkersdal & Westonaria; outlines Eight areas of activity that form the Corporate Social Responsibility of The Remember Your Roots Benefits Concert for 2013. These activities are designed to capture the major Socio-economic impacts, both real and potential, of the community in Bekkersdal and Westonaria.
2 x News Houses, 2 x Houses Renovations, 100 x School Uniforms, 10 x Bursaries, 200 x Food Parcels, 200 x Winter Blankets and 1000 x Community Meals.
Festivities begin in Soweto and Reggie has tied in a host of stars to achieve this dream over the three-day event. Appearing at the Panyaza pre-party in Soweto include Ralf Gum, Glen Lewis, China, Fistax Mixwell, Lulo Café, Dj Pepsi, Dj Ganyane, Dj Mgedeza, Dj Shabbir and Dj Thato.
The Havana Lounge (Westonaria) main event on Saturday boasts names such as Zakes Bantwini, Donald, Big Nuz, Black Motion, Lvovo, Mahoota vs Vetkuk, Dj Sbu, Dj Zinhle, Dj Cndo, Dj Warras, Shimza, Dj Bongz, Miss Jones, Mpako and SABC1’s Luthando and MJ from Generations as the MCs.
Festivities come to an end on Sunday, 05 May, with a Sunday Jazz Session. The closing event features Mafikizolo, The Soil, Zahara, Zakwe, Jaziel Brothers, Riot, Tswakae, Eddie Zondi and Paul Mtirara.
