Saturday evening I accidentally attended African hair International Awards at Voda World in Midrand. I didn’t know there is (was) such an event whereby hair lovers and nurtures get to be awarded for the work they do thanks to Simphiwe Majola of Capacity Relations who asked me to tag along…
What I loved about this show-case was that its main objective is to educate people about ethnic and and how to nurture them
African Hair Extravaganza has created a platform to educate, innovate and play-around with different hairstyles without stretching your budget. By the nature of our hair, we have discovered that our hair is unique and has qualities such as: dryness, frizz, matted strands, tangles, shrinkage, breakage, lacks moisture and ability to absorb moisture etc. These qualities of the Black hair are the reasons we generally seek so much solution to our hair problems. But are these problems natural or are they man-made problems that we have been forced to inherit? In the process of seeking solutions, we (Africa International Hair Extravaganza) resort to everything we can think of to help us such as: straightening with hot comb; blow dryers; flat irons; chemical relaxers; perms; Brazilian & Japanese blow dry; colour treating; Braids with synthetic & human hair; Weaves with synthetic, human and virgin human hair; twisting; adding different types of extensions etc…
and here are some people that attended:

With more initiative like these I think the battle yama hair lines can be won!
