This week on Idols we had 40 songs selected by the judges and the following is what was sang…

Elwira, sang a song I know to be famous by the great Mariah Carey yes I know she didn’t do a terrible job even though her low notes weren’t as good. Scratch all that I enjoyed Elwira for attempting a Mariah song, I mean there’s been handful of hopefuls through-out SA Idols history that were brave enough to take on a Mimi song. And I might be biased here because I totally adore Mariah, for that I would vote for Elwira… She told us she sang the song her way and I think she needs to try kick the Worcester accent because it makes hard for me to make-out what she utters sometimes.

Karabo sang Macy Grey I try first thing I have noticed about him is his ease on stage he took Macy’s song and made is his. He is showing us he jovial side. He looked like he enjoyed his performance and I can not fault him on his pure raw singing talent… Karabo told us to ask you vote for him as he aspires to build a school or design a program to motive the youth to help them enhance their talent potentials. Would I vote for him? ofcourse I would.

My girl Amanda chose to sing Say you love me, eish u-Amanda strikes me like a cheese Xhosa girl, her song choices always surprise the fake Louisies off my feet. One of the things you cant take away from her is talent, she has it! She deserves to be in this competition and I would vote her.

Sphelele sang a Lira number and I can safely say he is going down, no not because of the song but his lack of diversity. Brothers is one dimensioned I bet he would struggle to sing a Frank Ocean song, such characteristics are not of an Idol… would I vote for him, NO. however Durban folks vote, they would vote for anything from their province regardless of its nature #JUSTSAYING

Dineo sang blank space… I didn’t really really really really enjoy her performance only because she always tones down songs, since last season she toned all the upbeat songs she had performed and she is doing the same thing this season as well. I Would for her nonetheless

Another person that shocked me with his stage presence is Rhema, he really took off his unease on stage or maybe its because of the love he had for Michael Jackson’s man in the mirror. He had fun, he performed, he sang he broke down his uneasy walls, he really sorted the man in his mirror with his performance. Would I vote for him? Definitely.

Eish cutey Lungisa is easily spiraling down in my books even though he has the most positive attributes of becoming an Idol. He chose to sing I can’t make you love me I think in my mind the freshest performance of the song is by Adele abo George Michael and Tank’s version I never heard of. He told me to tell you to vote for him because he is Idols material and that he chose the song that would showcase that he is not a one trick pony… would I vote for him… andikho sure.

The most horrible performance of the night to me goes to Nadia, she murdered a perfect song from beginning to end … murdered as in negative light I mean. I feel between her and Sphelele one has to bite the dust. Nadia sang Riri’s take a bow and I would not vote for her even she calls herself a performer… I think that ‘performer attitude’ gets stuck in her head… I also happen to think she can sing Afrikaans songs better…

Loyiso amazes me all the time! we had a chat with him and I feel I was talking to a grown man, he is wise (for his age) I was in awe the young lad is good he understands music and the creativity that comes with it. He sang Emeli Sande’s next to me, he said the song reminded him of his special friend. I would most definitely vote for this Uitenhage boy that’s giving us Justin Bierber in dark shade.

As I was still trying to get over Loyiso’s incredible performance Mmatema came. She not only shut the bloody state theatre down with her Tina Turner rendition, she called on Eskom to give us a load shedding experience. Perfect performance and interpretation of the song. Would I vote for her? I would say what silly question you ask . that’s all!

All our hopefuls looked awesome! someone asked why didn’t the contestants choose any of Unathi’s songs and someone said because she submitted her own songs on the list… the chill you will struggle to get these days I tell yah. Huuuuu shem!
Who was your favourite? My Mom loved Mmatema, Loyiso and Karabo (in that order).
