I have this well connected aunt, her connections are on steroids. After I got my Electrical Engineering diploma In 2012, I struggled to get a job. We know how hard it is to get a real job in this country of ours. So my aunt did her thing, I got a job as an Aircon Technician in mid 2013. Everything was great between us, I would fill up her tank, I would buy her grocery, take her family out and other stuff. I was trying to show her my appreciation.
Anyway my problem started when she would out of the blue ask me money for petrol, for her kids’ aftercare, for this and that. I mean this person holds a high position with a fat salary, her husband is also loaded so it’s kinda confusing. I’m starting to think she got me this job so that I can be her cash cow. I have responsibilities too, I have parents to look after but it seems like she doesn’t care.
I don’t know how to approach her because she’s the one who got me this job, so it will be like I’m ungrateful. That’s how most black folks are with emotional blackmailing.
So my questions are;
>Where do we draw the line on this BLACKTAX thing?
>When is it enough?
>What’s the right way to deal/handle it?
I haven’t told anybody about this and it’s eating me up bethuna.
