Africa’s Beach Holiday-worthy Destinations!

The festive season is slowly approaching. Are you ready for December and the fun that comes with it? Have you decided where you will be spending your holiday? Jovago gives tips on what’s worth exploring in our African continent. If it’s too late, then keep these in mind for 2016…. :-)

Cabo Verde, an island country spans about 10 islands in the central Atlantic Ocean. It is located about 600 kilometres off the coast of Western Africa and has one of the highest tourist arrivals growth rate. The possibility of island-hopping makes this archipelago even more interesting! Nature-loving travellers would have the perfect time at Cabo Verde where the ambiance is a fusion of sunlight and flora. The zen-searching tourists can lounge on the beach and enjoy the cool evening breeze and sound of the water slapping the rocks. The beaches are not always crowded, you get the perk of feeling like you’re lounging on your very own private beach!

 

Madagascar

Madagascar gives you the best of both! It boasts for being the world’s fourth-largest island, home to an exquisite range of flora and fauna, the island appeals to travelers and tourists from all walks of life. Madagascar is not exactly an archipelago, apart from the main island itself, the nation also comprises of a number of other peripheral islands. As quite the tourist attraction, its coastline of 5000 km is a major factor as tons of divers and snorkelers are drawn to the island for this reason. The variety of aquatic life and underwater relics make it even more interesting!

The sandy beaches and breath-taking history adds an allure to the Mozambican mystery – it is interesting to learn of the dynamic play between slavery and religion in Mozambique’s coastal area during the colonial times. With an increase in the volume of tourists, more citizens of the neighbouring countries are keen on exploring the reefs and islands of this country. The promise of zen, sunshine and adventure is one that cannot be easily passed up by eager travelers.

Comoros is renowned as a spice and perfume-producing archipelago on the Indian Ocean. It lies between Mozambique and Madagascar. The islands are sure to keep tourists and travelers of every type enchanted. Although in comparison to Seychelles, Sao Tome amongst others, Comoros is largely unexplored in terms of tourism.

Undoubtedly, one of the reasons for the flocking of tourists to Sub-Saharan Africa is Seychelles. With up to 115 islands, this archipelago is surrounded by Madagascar, Comoros and Mauritius amongst others. Its islands range from granitic to coral ones. Of all its islands, Mahe, La Digue and Praslin boast to be the most popular. Mahe’s beautiful beaches and scenic atmosphere is the perfect royal retreat or getaway you could gift yourself or loved ones, La Digue’s jade waters give off this laid-back vibe for relaxation beyond your imagination and Praslin is for the adrenaline-rush seeking travelers who long to scuba-dive or snorkel.

The Gambia

Situated in West Africa, the Gambia is bordered on the West by the Atlantic Ocean and on all other sides by Senegal. The Gambia’s intimate small fishing villages are open to travelers seeking to have a peek into the lives and times of the Gambian fishery industry which is a major component of the economy. Its environment-friendly lodges are a dream to the nature-loving tourists and its cosy wildlife parks add an allure to the country. Bird-watching is one of the biggest activities in the Gambia – who would think watching birds could get this interesting?

Although Mauritius rests off the southeast coast, it remains one of Africa’s great vacation destinations, situated right in the middle of the Indian Ocean, it is the perfect blend of amazing people, beautiful scenery and a range of engaging activities like bird watching and mountain trekking. The ambiance is accompanied with a great nightlife and UNESCO Heritage Sites capable of leaving travelers and tourists awestruck!

São Tomé and Príncipe

São Tomé and Príncipe is particularly known for its volcanic islands. This archipelago, an embodiment of a lush and tropical paradise is reminiscent of what the Garden of Eden could have looked like.
