Ever heard the saying “…you think your problems are bad until you hear others”… well that’s what happened to me when I watched a repeat of Khumbul’khaya last week.

I was home channel hopping until I stopped on SABC 1’s hit reality show Khumbul’khaya. They had a girl that was looking for his father (I can’t remember all the details), she was 20 with 2 kids under her belt but, that didn’t touch me as much until she and her Mother explained their THEN situation.

The mother spoke of how ill treated she was by her relatives as she was an orphan and when they found out she was pregnant they were even more horrible to her. She cried asking the father why did she leave her knowing her staying conditions with her relatives.

she had to bare the child on her own, staying on the streets eating from garbage bins and finding shelter where-ever the night fell on them. Her daughter growing up without a father-figure found dependence on men.

The daughter explained in details how brave her mother is, that she would build a house/shelter for them from the ground every time their needed to.

Nje, That whole episode brought tears to my eyes, I began to count how blessed I am, to be where I am today. It also reminded me of what my pastor said at one sermon “mind your complaining language” . We tend to complain for everything that goes “wrong” in our lives forgetting that He, the creator led us to those situations… most times.

So, I’m learning to be grateful and showing appreciation to people around me other than my family and friends… There for the Grace of God go I.

What are you grateful for today?
