We are back at it! I hope y’all had a lovely Easter break mine has been nothing short of traumatic but hey life goes on. Let get into it, we have a lot to catch up on.

In case you haven’t heard. Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus will be joining the next season of The Voice USA as coaches replacing Pharrell Williams and Christina Aguilera respectively. I am excited to see A. Keys I think she will add a nice flavour to the show. As for Miley, I am a little unsure but it would be interesting to see what she is like as coach. That said I think Americans should start a petition for Christina Aguilera to be a permanent judge or actually rotate all the judges. I always watch when Christina is on, there something about her personality and also her coaching style, humour, chemistry with the other judges. Anyhoo, how is the Voice SA, that blondie judge is all kinds of climbable – I wonder who are the permanent judges and who are the replaceable ones.
Speaking of singing TV shows, Kelly Rowland’s new show Chasing Destiny is premiering on BET early April. The show is focused on finding the new age Destiny’s Child/ Supremes aka girl group. Kelly says that there hasn’t been a group since DC3 to actually make a mark and I agree, there’s Fifth Harmony but I guess they do not appeal to my/ our age groups. Oh and Kelly is against calling the show, a reality show, it’s a docu-series darling! All spinach and kale to me.
Kaerruche Tran aka Kae is reportedly gearing up to join America’s Next Top Model reboot which will be brought back by VH1. Tyra Banks will be involved as an executive producer but the show is said to be taking a new format and Kae will be a big part of that. Well congratulations. I think finally we can stop mentioning her ex boyfriend every time we speak about because since their split she has done a lot of work on this career of hers from awards winning web series to her own make-up line to movies and hosting work. I hope she pulls a Kim Kardashian and let’s that fame from her relationship be a stepping stone to money-making ventures.
There’s a new reality show that will be hitting US screens soon. It’s called Sisters In Law – this show is centered around a group of female attorneys and the cameras will follow them as they win and lose some of the toughest cases in Houston, Texas. So far I like the concept and I hope it’s a new crop and direction for reality TV. We’ve seen so much ratchet behaviour and wig-pulling. It would be nice to see women who actually have jobs and not pseudo housewives. (side bar – I still do like ratchet TV) Meet the shows stars (above from left to right:Vivian R. King, Juanita Jackson, Jolanda Jones, Tiye Tarita Foley, Rhonda Wills and Monique Chantelle Sparks.) The third sister in law (from the left) is already looking thirsty for the reality TV shine – Lawd help us.
In other reality show news, one of the Kardashian BFF girls is joining Hollywood Divas Season 3. It’s Malika Haqq ( the twin) and she has been brought in to give some light on young black Hollywood. Wait….I know what you’re thinking, if people say young Hollywood (actresses) I think of Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Lupita Nyon’go, Keke Palmer, Serayah, Yara Shahidi, Gabby Sedibe, Naturi Naughton, Xosha Roquemore, Tessa Thompson etc) I do not think Malika, hell she’s been only been on that ATL movie at least where I have seen her and I was in my early teens. Anyway, Malika will be joining the current cast, Golden Brooks, Countess Vaughn, Paula Jai Parker and Lisa Wu. Elise Neal has not confirmed her return yet. I am curious to see of they are all working actresses now or they are still actresses with great dated portfolios but haven’t worked in the last 10 years. I am also curious to see what Malika has done besides ATL and that wasn’t even a starring role. What are her credentials?
In other reality show news; veteran actress, Kim Fields has confirmed that she will not be returning to the next season of RHOA and I am so glad she saw the light. Reality TV for established people with great resumes usually makes them very unlikeable and I wish they can just stay away. Kim was as dry as butter-less toast on RHOA. What was her thought process exactly? That she would join RHOA and chat the ratchet status quo? No maam! People have said that she might have joined the show to resuscitate her career and if her appearance on the latest season of Dancing With The Stars USA is anything to go by then I believe it.
Still on RHOA stars, Cynthia Bailey and Peter Thomas’ marriage seems to be hanging on a thread. Apparently they have separated and from what Cynthia is saying in interviews – this one is a goner. Between Peter’s rumoured cheating, his financial woes and the couple living in different cities I think this just might be it. I would so like to blame reality TV for all their problems but you know what, it only amplifies things that are there. I just hope Cynthia gets back with her baby daddy, he’s cute and the way he looks at her during his cameo appearances yessess! She’s also shared (recently) that Leon (baby daddy) is her soulmate. Clearly this girl wants out of this marriage LOL!
RHOA affiliated girl, TINY is a new mummy to newborn #Lucky7 their third child together with T.I and seventh combined. All I can say is that these two have that hood-ride-or-die-black-love that’s both ratchet and adorable and commendable at the same time. Congrats to the couple.
Another reality star, well actress turned reality star and former first lady of Turks and Caicos , Lisa Raye McCoy is showing us what 48 year olds are looking like these days and I aint mad. She is looking great, granted there’s some airbrushing here and there but yassss gurl do your thing. I am a little sad for her daughter, whenever they are together they look like sisters except that Lisa would be the hotter sister and the thin one.
Shemar Moore ( no relation to Kenya LOL) has left his role (aka steady paying job) on Criminal Minds after 11 years. Damn – has it been that long. All I can say is that he can keep a job. Shemar’s fans and the shows fans were so mad so much that the shows producers and he had to send out some statements on his departure. Isn’t that great, that people like you so much on show they demand an explanation why you are leaving? Must be nice, if only we had let Generations 16 be great and did the same. I digress. It all came down to Shemar wanting to grow and steer his career on a different direction. He also mentioned that he would love to travel more, get married and have kids. Wow – I didn’t know that he wasn’t married nor had kids until today. He’s dated Halle Berry and Toni Braxton amongst other Hollywood women in the past and if Halle divorces Olivier Martinez, Shemar will be knocking down Halle’s door. The things Shemar has been saying about his relationship with Halle of late – damn I think Halle took her thing, flipped it and reversed it on him – he is still sprung and it’s more than two decades now.
Speaking of Halle Berry, the Oscar winning actress was spotted on holiday with her soon to be ex – Olivier Martinez and her children Maceo and Nahla in Mexico. Halle and Olivier looked rather cosy for exes and word is they might be working things out. I would like to believe this. Unless Halle has matured we all know how her break-ups end…UGLY! If they are getting back together I am so happy for her but sorry Shemar Moore. Halle is currently developing a drama series ( she will be directing and producing together with her Extant producer, Steven Spielberg) for CBS. I think she’s enjoying motherhood and I love it!
Still on motherhood and just parenthood:
Mariah Carey is living it up with Dem Babies in London. She’s on her Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour and in May she is hitting our shores. Dem Babies have grown – Monroe looks like she will be channelling 90’s Mariah very soon with her dark curls. I still think Moroccan is Nick Cannon through and through. Mimi is the latest big name star to venture into reality TV well after American Idol with her new show Mariah’s World that will follow the diva of all divas as she embarks on her tour and plans her wedding to billionaire, James Pecker. Oh like Kelly she better not hear you call it a reality show, it’s a docu-series, darling! The funny thing is that it will be on E! Entertainment and has the same producers as Keeping Up With The Kardashians however Mariah has to approve every detail down to which side of her face you shoot her! Now that is diva status. I am so amped up – I need Mariah and her eternal shade in my life.
I think I have fallen for David Beckham harder than I fell for him when I saw that underwear commercial he did a few years ago. Victoria Beckham posted this picture of David sewing doll clothes for their daughter, Harper’s doll. Nothing is as attractive as men that are doting fathers to daughters! Doting fathers period! Talk about DILFs.

Guess who’s back with a brand new bang? Azealia Banks just dropped a new mixtape called Slay-Z and she is showcasing her new silicone girls. I lover her music but this girl should learn when to zip it and throw the key away. I think that her mouth is probably the reason why she has not had much success mainly in the US. I still think compared to all the new female rappers, Nicki, Iggy etc she probably is the most talented. 212 is still my jam.
Speaking of this generation of musicians, the Queen Mother of shade and MUSIC , Aretha Franklin had a few things to say about that. In a recent interview with Billboard magazine Aretha mentioned that although there’s a crop of good singers like Bey, Usher and Nicki, her generation had great singers and was definitely stronger and you know what she is right! From Sam Cooke to Stevie Wonder to Diana Ross those are legends darling! Can you believe this year she is celebrating 60 years in the music industry. He first recorded material was six decades ago, that’s more than some of our parents have been alive and we still know who Ms Franklin is R.E.S.P.E.C.T!!!
