Whose Money Is It Anyway?

I am sure you have seen reports about Mzansi Comedian, Trevor Noah’s new Manhattan penthouse worth R130million. Trevor is now based in the USA and he is the host of The Daily Show.
I am very happy for him, he has come a long way from his days on Molo Fish….look at him now. I was just shocked, upset and annoyed by how some Mzansi people took the news. Instead of congratulating Trevor, people felt the need to complain and go all black tax on the guy.

That first tweet got me rolling my eyes. Whose kids are these? We need to understand that we are not entitled to people’s things and that includes their finances. What people choose to do with THEIR money, has nothing to do with anyone else. So Trevor shouldn’t have bought a house with HIS money that he works hard for? Really now? The biggest mistake that people make is assuming that others don’t give back. Just because someone doesn’t advertise their charity work doesn’t mean they aren’t doing any. We all give back one way or another. Even if one doesn’t give back, it is still their choice. We don’t know each other’s responsibilities and priorities. If your goal is to not buy a house or a car until all the children have gone to school on your account then go ahead and do your thing but don’t impose your choices on other people hle.

I am trying to understand where all the anger came from. What is it about? Mayihlome Tshwete’s tweet is Gospel. We were never shown Charlize Theron’s house. It was not a big deal. But ke here we are, mad as hell at Trevor Noah.

We live in a world where society will applaud you and sing your praises until you start doing things for yourself. The minute you put yourself 1st and make a decision to spoil yourself it becomes an issue. We see this in our own families as well. They will discourage you to do what you want to do for yourself, that is why sometimes it’s best not to tell them about your plans. You wanna do something for you, just do it and inform them when it’s a done deal otherwise you will not get anywhere.

Why do we feel this much entitled to other people’s moola guys? Why are we so angry?

Anyway, Trevor Noah has a show at the Dome in August, and I’m wondering if this has given him more content. We know how comedians find fun in every situation. Hehehe
