SA Idols Run!

By now if you’re thinking of auditioning for South Africa’s most watched reality show  on Mzansi Magic 161 (SA Idols Season 13) my friend *deep sigh* you’re too late maybe early for the upcoming season which will only hold auditions at the beginning of 2018, which means ample time for you and your folks to perfect your tunes.

If for some reason you’ve wondered how the show works, I think I might  shed some light on that:

Almost immediately after the season’s winner is announced which  is like late November or so, advertising of auditions get aired on for audition dates in the new year (late January – February).

Audition time comes, thousands of hopefuls queue in to impress preliminary judges prior seeing Unathi Msengana, Randall and Somizi with guest judges Kelly Khumalo, Khaya Mthethwa and Donald in denial for this season.

We managed to speak with two failed hopefuls outside Pretoria’s State Theatre and this is what we gathered:

Seventeen year old Lerato from Lethabong sang Rihanna’s “unfaithful”.  She felt she was not good enough when she had to bridge the song because her voice gave up on her. She also said she will be coming back again next year , bigger and better.

Next to her is Saun, Saun hails from Haartebees he performed  Jazmine Sullivan’s “burst your windows”. He told us he was one of those that came in the day before and slept outside the theatre. They sat up the whole night singing around imbawula preparing to audition the next day. Saun said his nerves got the better of him that is why he got knocked out. He said he is definitely  trying out again next season.

Until the shows comes to our tellies, keep practising!

Thank you Mzansi Magic PR for inviting us.
