SABC 1′s New Shows

For those of you who are still Fo Sho fans, here are shows that starting (or have started) on SABC 1 this February.

Mon 3rd Feb 19h00 Single Galz (new local comedy series)

Single Galz is a comedy show about three girls in their early twenties, making all the wrong moves in the world of relationships. Mistake after mistake, these painfully funny characters will make us cringe with empathy and laugh with recognition. But we’ll love them nonetheless.Cast includes: Zola Nombona (Lerato), Vele Manenje (Sonto), and Xoli Zondi (Ntsiki).

Mon 3rd Feb 20h30 Amaza (new local drama series)

A coming of age youth drama series set in a quaint Muizenberg street where a diverse group of students must come to terms with the cultural and historical legacies that mould each of them. Amaza follows four main characters in their early twenties who all have life-changing decisions to make, challenges to face and growing up to do! Siyabonga Mayolo as Bongani; Shamilla Miller as Ayesha; Zikhona Mda as Thembi and Sean-Marco Vorster as Jaco.

Mon 3rd Feb 22h00 Amagugu (new local reality mini series)

A part reality show, part drama, set against the backdrop of a real person going through a major life transition, experiencing the death of a loved one. Will follow the true story of the surviving family members and see how they are now facing major change and have to re-build their lives.

Tue 4th Feb 20h30 Ngempela (new local drama series)

A local series of high-impact comedy, drama and documentary all fused into gripping television viewing. The series seeks to translate the world of tabloid newspaper into a unique television experience – telling Mzansi stories without being overly sensational and controversial.

Tue 4th Feb 21h00 In Debt S2 (Factual) new season

The Factual lifestyle show is aimed at becoming a viewer’s guide to getting the most out of life – enabling participants in debt to undergo an intense life-changing experience – and to manage their debt situations.

 

Wed 5th Feb 18h00 The Link S3 (lifestyle magazine) new season

A socially relevant and empowering lifestyle TV show for young South African women with a focus on fashion. From celebrity fashion tips & how to take an outfit from day to night, to behind-the-scenes of fashion week and designer profiles we have the local fashion scene covered. Host: Lerato Kganyago

Wed 5th Feb 20h30 Loxion Lyric (new local drama series)

They couldn’t be more different – the neighbourhood bully, a spoilt rich brat, the social outcast of the community, the son of a famous musician, and an iziKhothane star – yet their lives are set on a collision course, to form a band they’ll dub Loxion Lyric – they’ll have to pull together and learn something about money. Cast includes: Chumani Pan (Brian), Malizo Mdekazi (Spikiri), Xolile Maluka (Karabo), Mpume Ngwenya (Thandi), Phumelo Nkosi (Stapura), and Nunu Khumalo (Nhlanhla).

Thurs 06 Feb 20h30 Task Force (new local drama series)

The story of the series is set in Johannesburg and revolves around the office of Inspector Joseph Ndlovu of the Serious & Violent Crimes Unit. Actual cases will be explored and weaved into fictional narratives to keep the series relevant, fresh and resonant. Cast includes: Rapulana Seiphemo (Joseph), Florence Masebe (Lindiwe), Tsholo Maseko (Jackie), Lunga Shabalala (Zuko), John Lata (Moloi), Themba Nofomele (Lwandle), Tumi Ngumla (Kamohelo), Amanda du Pont (Christelle) and, Mmarona Kgwere (Sandy).

Sun 16th Feb 10h00 Mzansi Revival Hour (new local gospel music series replacing Gospel Gold)

A brand-new gospel music show presented by familiar television face in beautiful and articulate, Ayanda Ngubane Borotho. The music show takes a fresh and innovative approach to contemporary gospel music presentation of both local and international songs.
