Saturday Mnet went all out to literally bring our stars in one room at Gallagher Convention Centre for the launch of their “Galaxy of Stars” initiative. The Galaxy of Stars is aimed at supporting young film makers and actors especially the ones that were previously disadvantaged. Mnet has set aside over a billion rands to ensure that this takes off and soars. This was one of those prestigious events where our dignitaries were amongst the guests and most people arrived on time with ample time to catch-up with one another before we were ushered to the main room.
Hosts Unathi Msengana and Tata u- John Kani were spot on, they had great chemistry together, it was a matter of Unathi respecting uTata naye u-Tata was respectful. But I must say I was thinking how is it Unathi was working with Mnet whereas she is under the other broadcaster that CANS peoples contract that do work for competing broadcasters or this does not apply to hosting an event, Maybe, Yes or No? A prank was pulled on us as the show was starting, they pretended as if one of their machines (cranes) on stage broke down, sparks and loud noises yayi chaos nje on stage. I was really embroiled, scared and was ready to leave if the sparks started fire. To top it off the technicians started fighting *I clapped once* saying yoh hamba Mnet what an embarrassment. Until master of pranks showed up. Leon Schuster is boss shem jealous down. The whole mis-up looked real that’s how good the dude is, then I remembered Yolisa Pahle mentioned to me in the waiting room that she was producing the show. I mean with Yolisa steering a show a few things to nothing can go wrong. That how I love and trust that woman’s work! I sighed then I laughed?.
Everything, I mean everything was spot on. From the food(starters and main) prepared by Chef Benny from MasterChef SA, the ambience, Service staff and the entire production. Okay maybe I’m exaggerating we did have a bit of a problem for my camera man accreditation, security guards didn’t want us on the red carpet to take photos until Nomphelelo came to the rescue, Siyabonga sisi ? and I think the show was just a tad too long. We had video inserts of people thanking Mnet for their support from the very Pregnant Bassies (she gave birth last week to a baby girl) but on the video she was still pregnant, Connie and Shona, Akin, Khaya, Proverb and of course Mr John Kani and others.

Idols winners with Pro-Verb did their thing, I don’t know what song they sang but I just could not connect to it…their voices were not so good but Musa.
Winnie Khumalo with Zahara doing Too late for Mama. I wonder when will Winnie ever get over thinking she can do all sis’s Brenda’s songs…oh yeah there is Vusi as well lol
You can catch the show on Chanel 161 on 9 Aug. Thank you Mnet for the invite we had such a great time ?
