Simon Cowell officially announced last Monday that Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio will be joining the judges panel replacing L.A Reid and Britney Spears. Kelly has done this before in the UK and I think she’s great, funny, goofy, smart and has been in the business since she was a kid so she has a few things she can share. Now, this Paulina chick is apparently a latina superstar who looks like a Shakira knock-off, I’m not really sure about her but we’ll see I guess.
My problem with these singing shows is that it’s become more of who is judging rather than the talent, anything for ratings in America. Kodwa on the other hand we do need good TV. I wonder if the choice to have 3 female judges is a strategy to boost catfights therefore boosting ratings, exhibit A, Nicki Minaj & Mariah Carey.
Speaking of those two, American Idol is also shaking it up with all the judges leaving. I have to say it was starting to be like a zoo at that panel. Apparently execs are looking to bring in former winners and success stories of the show like Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson. Interesting.
Anyway… bringing it home I think S.A Idol needs a facelift, a tummy tuck and some collagen injections in the name of good TV. I like Gareth Cliff I think he should stay he has a good sense of humour and he’s HOT. Randall and his mean self can stay too. Then Unathi…. I like her, I love the chemistry they have as a team but I would love to see who could replace her & step up to the plate someone like Azania, or rather keep her and have a 4th judge. Proverb as a host is great but I feel like having someone with a few rebellious bones would be fun, think Sade Giliberti but in her androgynous look not that forced heels and dresses look she did for So You Think You Can Dance.

In other news: Do you guys know Mario Ogle, the cute singer dude is planning or has changed his stage name to MARS? I think that’s so alien & there’s no pun intended here. It just lacks originality nje, or is it just me? Imagine if Khanyi Mbau God forbid came back to music and called herself Khanyonce…see what I mean? No Mario, No. It’s still nice to ogle you though
