Big Brother Africa is back after last month’s setback. You all know that the original house that is situated at Sasani Studios burned down. Well, the BBA organizers went out of their way to get a new house because the show had to go on. Red Pepper Studios is where we were at this Sunday for the launch.
This was not the usual BBA launch party that we are used to. The venue was very small. There were no famous faces, it was strictly a media event so grand grand we were the audience and I think it was all because of the limited space. I am hoping that they fix the usual house and take us back to what we are used to. I applaud them for finding a house so quick, I personally thought they were going to take us to Nigeria or scrap the 2014 broadcast all together. So big up to them.
The show launched live on Sunday. This year it’s called the Hotshots, going on for 63days with 26 Housemates in the running for USD300 000. I am wondering what I’d do with USD300 000? Imagine getting all this cash for absolutely doing nothing. Kaloku in the house you just eat, sleep, exercise and talk….nothing else. You don’t even have to worry about anything when you’re in there. You forget about all your stress, what you’re going to eat, the monthly bills you have to pay, all that goes out the window. You just become free shem.
IK is back again, and I have accepted that no one does this better than him. He now owns that spot and he is handling it so well. I loved the intro with the girls. Uyabathanda abafazi ke ubhuti. Hehehehe
It was also fun how they twisted things this year as they introduced the housemates. Very creative I must say. In one minute they showed us their talents, live and we had to score each one them based on their showcase. My personal favourite was the comedian guy Arthur from Rwanda followed by Ghana’s Mam Bea for her fashion design skills. My worst has to be the girl that sang a Beyonce song. I don’t know what went wrong there. Surely God gave her a talent and what she showed us doesn’t belong to her. She couldn’t sing and she couldn’t dance. How can you choose a Beyonce song if you can’t do either of the two? Haai ke the one that sang a Rih song was lucky because even the owner of the song can’t sing. *hides from the navy*
This Luis guy from Namibia kinda looks like our very own Audio nton nton, Maybe it’s just me. His smile is so Audio. My highlight was the guy that danced to that Y tjuku tjuku song. He was so focused and serious. Then IK asked him what his mission in the house will be and he said ‘Girls.’ Hahaha, imagine your man dancing like that.
Laveda from Tanzania got the highest score and that made her the 1st Head Of House and she is the only one that is safe this week because everyone else is up for eviction. Her saxophone did wonders for her. Also in the Top 6 were Sabina, M’am Bea, Lilian, Arthur and JJ. How hot is JJ though? The way I kept on screaming for him.
We had entertainment from Emmy Gee, AB Crazy, DJ Dimplez, Cassper Nyovest and Naija’s BET Award winner Davido. You see Davido had fun on stage, he was just having fun. Loved it.
Thank you so much to Michelle Esau for the invite and these pictures.
