DJ AJ (Arthur Junior) has recently released his latest album titled ‘Keamogetswe’ as well as the single ‘This Time’.
Junior says the album is a dedication to his ex-girlfriend and is inspired by the quarrels and joys of love and relationships.. In the album he features up and coming talent which is something he says he takes from his father, Arthur Mafokate.
Some of the new artists he has featured are Tendai, C’zwe, Cazz, Victoria, Pale & Karabo. DJ AJ features C’zwe (2 fresh) on tracks “This time” & “Colourful”. Cazz brings along the crossover appeal with the track “Got to know”. Tendai lends that eclectic soulful voice on the track “Floating”.
Other standout tracks are “Head to heaven” by Karabo. Pale sings “Touch me” which brings a jazzy type of flow. This house album signifies his will to take music beyond the South African market.
His dream: He would love to travel the world and emulate his idol DJ Black Coffee.
Also featured on the album is Chomee who brings in that commercially viable touch to the project. Chomee sings on the soulful “Belongs to us” and the remix of the club banger “I Can Take you”. DJ AJ’s house music album is fused with commercial, deep and yet soulful tracks covering the different taste of house music aficionados.
Asked about his inspiration, AJ says he was influenced by DJ Kent, Black Motion, Layabouts, Donald & DJ Clock, as he feels their music is timeless and will always be relevant to the in the industry.
The album is produced by the pedigreed combination of Wash Mahlangu, Arthur Mafokate and DJ AJ. Like the first single says “This Time” is DJ AJ’s time to set the dance music scene alight with an album that contains more than six definite singles.
