Magazines: Look Who Is On The Cover!

$

0

I don’t want to sound petty or complain but this time a lot of the magazine covers are not all that for me.

I kept on flicking the light and flicking the light hoping another one will just pop up out of nowhere and make me go WOW….but lutho. :-(

Anyway, let me, let you be the judges as usual. Maybe you guys will make me see something I missed. Hehehe

Destiny

We say Halala Destiny on your journey.

DestinyMan

I like this one with Vusi. It’s not too bad at all.

Mamas

Mamas & Papas took us to Zambia this time, celebrating Lulu. Nice one.

BonaEnglish

Mrs Nciza on Bona!! To be honest, this doesn’t look like Nhlanhla at all.

BonaSotho

She just looks way different from the Nhlanhla I know. Or maybe I don’t know her that well. And these colours look way too many, it’s just too busy maan.

bona

They have this image on their FB as cover page and I don’t know why they didn’t chose it for the Magazine cover. It’s perfect!

Essays

Obviously this one was taken months ago. It would have been perfect to have Zinhle gracing Essays with that new look of hers which I love. Zinhle is a beauty, but I am not feeling her on this cover shem. The body is on point, it’s from the shoulders – up part that doesn’t seem ok. Essays, I love the colours but y’all shouldn’t put the word LAZY’ on top of a woman’s vjay…..Never Ever!! Vjay, boobs, and tummy are a no go area when it comes to words like that, so be careful what you ‘attach’ to those body parts. Not like this Essays. :-(

Elle

From Black Coffee to Beyonce’s rural look. It’s a NO from me.

WHome

*reserves comment* Actually, I love the leather outfit Helen has on.

Marieclaire

I don’t even know what to say honestly. What in the hell is going on here? The irony of the headline ‘A woman in full control’. Like, she is in control where, when and how when on this cover it doesn’t even look like she has any control whatsoever. She looks like she is in pain. Hai maan Marie Claire.

fairlady

Ms Crawford doesn’t look 50 at all. I really would love to read about ‘How To Stop Busyness From Consuming Your Life’.

cosmo

This is such a fun cover. Cosmo always does the best it can to keep things funky. Simple!!

TrueLove

Mrs Ferguson closing off our post this month. I am happy with this one TL team, not that abnormally photoshopped Boity you gave us last month. Ausi Connie still looks good at 45. Loving these two colours you used too, it’s stunning. *side eyes Bona*

Which one has you feeling like you can spend on it?

It’s Freedom Day. How Free Are You?

$

It’s Freedom Day in Mzansi today. What do you have planned to celebrate it? Will you be attending the celebrations in Limpopo or you will be chilling at home? I am hooking up with my JC family this afternoon to share ideas, and to learn from each other.

freedom

This morning, President Zuma will be addressing the nation. I can hear his voice and laughter already….Hehehehehe

Yes we are celebrating our freedom, but the big question is; Are you free? Do you feel free? Do you even know what freedom means?

Here are some definitions of Freedom;

  1. Absence of subjection to foreign domination or despotic government.
  2. The state of not being imprisoned or enslaved.
  3. The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint
  4. The state of being physically unrestricted and able to move easily.
  5. The state of not being subject to or affected by (a particular undesirable thing).
  6. The power of self-determination attributed to the will; the quality of being independent of fate or necessity.
  7. Unrestricted use of something.

Looking at these definitions, can you relate to all of them? If not, which one do you relate to? Are you free?

Enjoy your holiday guys. Be safe!

5 Things Malusi Is Curious About!

$

By Malusi Garishe
 *
1
My first curiosity goes out to my core love, Fashion! How we have followed suit for such a long time during the ins and out of trends. Taken aspirations and through that how we are able to play along with characters and personalities. The consistent growth.
2
I’m curious about how people have let gender become a weighing issue. Stereotypes driven individuals on gender beliefs have carried and barred and placed gender to certain roles in society and jobs. Stopping and placing people basses on male or female to certain positions strongly because of beliefs that one has or have grown up with. To be quite open about this topic, anyone can do whatever they place their mindset to; occupy a presidential position, managerial or any of that. We are all human and are allowed to extend our abilities.
3
Using social media as any rely form of destruction. I’m not really sure why people would abuse and misuse such a powertool of communication as social media to destruct, destroy others in means to being relevant. As a social media manager I hugely understand the power and importance of Social media in building and sharpening one’s brand to grow.
4
Moving on to my fourth matter of curiousness. Now this one tickles my curiosity! The lack of support on any local material be it movies, Music and Art. Mara why? Mzansi why aren’t we embracing and supporting our own?
5
Curiosity about how make up has led a lot of ladies into looking like clowns in the circus. Is it because of the pressure of wanting to look gorgeous or what? Lack of self esteem that one goes to the extent of pumping themselves up with make that they end up looking like a ghost and unrecognizable. People; self love!!!

Anything #OpenUpTheIndustry Goes……

$
0
0

Yhuuuuuuuu, Mzansi peeps have been up in arms calling for new faces in the entertainment industry. People are tired of seeing the same faces over and over again on different entertainment platforms.

12

They are a lot of talented individuals out there that are not even given a chance because those in authority are not giving them the time of day. I am putting the ‘blame’ on the employer, not the employee. Why should someone turn down a job that’s being offered to them? It doesn’t make sense to me. So if the famous are offered those jobs, should they say ‘No I don’t want it, please give it to smang smang because she just graduated from AFDA‘ ? I don’t think so.

Everyone on social media has had something to say about #OpenUpTheIndustry. The ones in the industry being the most vocal.

Here are some tweets…..

10

08

05

07

03

What @JadeTraci is talking about I have experienced. I was contacted by someone about/from a certain show to send someone from Cooyah for an audition. Cooyah artist didn’t get the job but I was shocked when the show started airing; the same person that had contacted me wanting people to come and audition is the same one that ended up presenting the show. This person was already part of the production before the auditions; so my question is; Why do broadcasters waste people’s time with auditions. Why are you giving people hope where there is none when you know exactly who you want for that job? Stop wasting people’s time. I was not mad that the job was given to them, believe it or not they are very good on that show. I was only mad at the fact that time was wasted on our side for nothing.

04

06

This is another fact about the industry. Rates get dropped because ‘We have a budget that we need to stick to so we can’t go higher than this amount.‘ So what Pearl and Phathu are saying, is not a lie.

02

09

01

Very good ideas from Janine, Poppy and Sbo. There is so much that people can do with all these resources and technology.

I must say where there are qualifications and real talent it’s unfair of us to expect the already famous not to be hired all over. What do we expect them to do if this is what they are here for? This is their career, their life. I can never get tired or complain about Nthati Moshesh or Vusi Kunene being in every drama. They are good at what they do. However, I am not sure how I’d feel if Nthati had to wake up the next day and she’s hosting My Perfect Wedding. Hehehehehe

Have a good long weekend bahlali, let’s catch up next month. :-)

#ThingsThatMakeUsGoTJO…From AKA vs Pearl to Euphonik!

$
0
0

Twitter you devil you. Hehehehe Supa Mega and The Real Black Pearl kicked off the weekend with punches. These two are not afraid of each other. Subtweets fly all the time. Just when we thought the fire was dying down, they reminded us that their war is far from over.

In case you missed it; Here is what went down on Twitter.

02

AKA posted a picture of his new ride. Ok, we don’t know if it’s really his because he once posted a picture of a house thanking God for it but then he moved out after breaking up with his baby mama DJ Zinhle. Stories started doing the rounds that he was ‘homeless’, but what shocked us was some records that landed in our inbox recently, proving that there is no property registered under AKA. According to those records, the only one that has property registered is Zinhle. Anyway……moving right along, back to the topic.

03

After that AKA car post, Pearl Thusi then got in the mix. We know these two are like oil and water. Gloves immediately came off.

04

He went in

05

She went in

06

Then Tweeps started noticing that Pearl was deleting her tweets. But AKA, kept going.

07

Another TJO moment was Pearl’s response to Otis. So who asked to be on the show and were declined? AKA? Bonang? Sfunukwazi. #AnotherTweetDeletedByPearl :-(

08

In the mix of it all. DJ Zinhle was busy having her not so out of the ordinary moments.

09

She got dragged into it by TwitterFiles. Lol

12

The past always has a way to keep coming back, no matter how hard you want to forget and move on.

11

She didn’t take it to heart tho, she made fun of it showing that she was at peace and has moved on.

13

She said she loves everyone, and that made Pearl go ‘Heh???’

14

Just because her friend Zinhle has let things go….Pearl clearly will not be doing that anytime soon. She continued firing shots.

15

Bonang also tweeted this after the saga. Not sure who it was directed to because Zinhle says the past is the past so obviously she has closed that door. Pearl maybe? Or Tweeps for pulling out old tweets?  Mmmmh!

*Enter Euphonik*…………….Thixo wase George Goch.

01

Last night Euphonik put on his boxing gloves too. Looking at this Tweet, considering the AKA vs Pearl Thusi Twar because of a car…..we’d say this was subtweet.

02

Tweeps then hit below the belt and started taking shots at him. Apparently, this is one of the tweets that sent Euphonik over the edge. And he lost it.

03 04 05 06 07 08

He didn’t filter anything. TJO!!!!

09

Tjeeerrr

10

Bathong….. :-(

This war needs to end at some point guys. Seriously? Ok, maybe it shouldn’t because someone has to keep us entertained. Tltltltltl

Have a great holiday. :-)

#My1stShotLeft – Mpumalanga!

$

I am team patriotism where travelling local is concerned *or rather with a lot of things that can help build our country and its economy by Us* Please scream Proudly South Africa! From an early age I’ve always of the belief that as far as travelling is concerned – ‘you need to start by exploring South Africa and the African continent before you leave your coasts’. Travelling local is really as easy as taking a #ShotLeft to explore and devour the beauty of our country  and its spectacular provinces– with public holidays all over our calendar what else can you do besides taking a quick #ShotLeft either as a family or a road trip with your friends?!

If you are the done it all and seen it all type of person – you’ll know that SA has a lot to offer for those who always get the travelling bug, without even using a passport or Visa you can have the most amazing experiences.

We joined a group of journos, local celebrities and influencers, 5 #ShotLeft competition winners and Mi Casa to Experience Mpumalanga – and I was in awe of how magical nature looks.

Here are the pics…

01

Our trip was a quick one – a short evening flight from OR Tambo to Nelspruit and a stay over at Engonyameni Hotel.

02

Sightseeing like never before – in the morning we enjoyed a relatively long drive along the Panorama Route with its boastful landscape, the mini road trip situation was well worth it as every destination proved to be majestic in scenery.

03

Our first stop was the Lone Creek Falls – which has been declared a National Monument and it does take your breath away, reaching about 68m people can have picnics and braai in the area. How cool is that?!

04

Beauty in all levels…

05

Pathways and spaces

06

And then you have Three Rondavels – Majestic as it can get!

07

The view here is more than spectacular as you get to see the Blyde River Canyon over the Drakensberg escarpment.

08

As we looked and admired this beauty…

09

Sometimes you need to sit on top of the world – well almost and have a moment to yourself.

10

Serenity

11

Next up were the Potholes

12

When nature is carved to perfection

13

And resembles potholes

14

Being one with nature and taking it all in… African time ke mo leko struu – we didn’t make it to the renowned Gods Window because of certain delays, the way we were all so disappointed because really – if there’s anything most of us were looking forward to see. It was the Gods Window. Have you seen it, how is it?

15

We got dolled up for an evening of cocktails and awaited a performance by Mi Casa, these beautiful ladies are Lesego (Grazia Magazine) and Desiree (Citizen Connect)! After the sadness of missing Gods Window – we had to loosen up and get down!

16

Mo – T, DJ Zinhle and J Something

17

I’ve never seen the group perform – they were great. Singing and dance moves on point! The performed ‘Chocolate, Bar man and Don’t Wanna Be Your Friend’ amongst other songs from their current album ‘Home Sweet Home’.

20

DJ Zinhle was there all relaxed.

21

And some dance moves…we took our dancing shoes off sometime after midnight to relax and be well prepared for the following day’s water activities.

23

On to the following day’s activities we went to Induna Adventure Centre were you could either go Geckoing/White River Tubing or River Rafting.

24

Selimathunzi presenter Siphesihle Vazi, DJ Sphe and DJ Naves all geared up and ready for some adrenaline rush and fun in the water!

25

Selfies galore as this team was ready to take over the water tubing!

27

Pretty in a pink helmet this is Kea from Grazia Magazine also getting ready for the water rush…

28

As we made our way to the river – all armoured up is safety gear!

29

So what you do on this activity is that you get into the tube – yellow oval situation they all have and you get an opportunity to descend in the Sarbie River Gorge while sitting on the tube and steering your way through.

30

This is just a small portion of what the river looks like – when you are right there and told that the only thing between you and your body is a pumped up tube! Kuyashuba – my nerves and adrenaline were super high…

31

You navigate through a few rapids and then jump off a 3m and 8m waterfall and just explore the river while your heart beats faster than usual…

32

Some people made this look super easy – extreme sports fans!

33

On the other side and ready to do their 8m jump! Salute FAM…it took me forever to jump on the 3m – but it was worth it! Would I do it again – ohhh Yass!

And just like that our 2 – day stay in the beautiful Nelspruit was over, we headed to Sabie River Sun Resort for a scrumptious lunch and went straight to the airport afterwards with nothing but great memories and stories to tell about the beautiful place that Mpumalanga is with its landscape and adventurous activities.

It’s been a grueling few weeks from personal battles to Prince’s death and Lemonade and of course trying find that Becky. I hope you’ve been good and your holiday has been blissful.

ws8w93tcnsoyzctkqqde

Let’s start it all off with Prince – I know it’s way overdue by now but my heart is still sore. Anyone who knows me knows how much I adored Prince – he was one of those artists that I stumbled on when I was growing up and he made it okay to be a little feminine and embrace my “otherness”. He will definitely be solely missed. I do not like to speak ill of the dead but there have been rumours that have been spreading around the cause of his death. People are saying that he has HIV and it had progressed to full blown AIDS and as per his Jehovah Witness standing he did not want to get any treatments asides from the treatments of his symptoms. I do not know if this is true and if it is I will be mad at him (yeah I said that). HIV shouldn’t be a death sentence at this day and age especially with his resources. I am sure God would have forgiven him for breaking the law and taking a few treatments. Click her to see Prince’s eternal SHADE!!!

beyonce-lemonade-07_0

As for Lemonade – I had a viewing gathering at my home the other day and I have to say I like it – I do no care much for Beyonce but I do like it when she stirs the pot. However whether I believe it or not is another story. I personally think Bey knows how to manipulate her minions into spreading the “good news” aka her awareness of her projects. I don’t believe those cheating rumours and if anything these are very strategically planned events – we all know Bey is so in control of what we know about her so she always has the last laugh. Daddy Lessons is by far my fave track on the album. Sorry , Love Drought and Freedom are also good contenders.

01_27215324_62b07b_2713080a

On that marital faux drama note. Did you hear how Idris Elba’s ex wife Sonia Hamlin has been doing the rounds. Sonia is an established property lawyer and she recently opened to the Daily Mail about the cause of her divorce. She says that they broke up because of his career – he had to have an image and a wife wasn’t a good look at that point cause he was a no name actor just starting out. Apparently his management and friends told him that he needed to be with someone hot and someone who fitted into the Hollywood stereotype. It’s rough out here. Well at least Sonia was no baby mama and she got her own.

Chloe-Grace-Moretz--z

From a former couple to a new couple; The Beckham’s oldest Brooklyn is dating Disney star and young actress Chloe Grace Moretz. How cute? One thing though, he’s 17 and she’s 19 so they can’t do anything but first base.

beckham-family-600x450

Still on the Beckhams, have you heard that they are shopping around for a network for their reality show. I honestly think they should just abstain from that medium but part of me is curious on how they are as family. I also think after a few episodes it would be boring, they do not necessarily strike me as interesting people. If they do it I think it’s mainly for their kids, especially Brooklyn to raise his US stardom and then branch off to do something else after he has secured a fan base. In as much as they are famous in the UK in the US they are not as popular, well…the public is not that interested in them as they are interested in the Kardashian Klan.

EggCXwJaCQcO

So Malia Obama is a grown girl now and she has been accepted to Harvard. The first daughter will be commencing her studies after her gap year. Good for her. #BlackGirlMagic

Screen Shot 2016-04-28 at 4.54.42 PM_zpse6trjvmq

Another Obama magic happening will be on our screens soon. Southside With You a movie starring Tika Sumpter and Parker Sawyers as Michelle and Barack Obama pre political achievements will be coming to our cinemas soon (hopefully). The John Legend produced movie details the first dates of the most powerful couple in the world and it’s everything #romancegoals. Watch the trailer HERE!

A huge congrats to Angela Simmons who got engaged to a mystery man a couple of days ago. The mystery man is allegedly a lesser known man called Sutton Sean Tennyson. I like how she did this, so low key that tabloids do not even have a picture of this man. Well congrats Angie and by her dads tweet, Rev Run approves.

KimKardashianLunchesRobBlacChynaeSvagAyBwi5l

I am very confused lately when it comes to the Kardashians. I think Blac Chyna came and turned their worlds upside down. First there was Kylie and Chyna snapping pics together saying that they’ve been friends all this time – LIES! and then there are the Chyna pregnancy rumours and now Chyna is hanging out with Kim and Rob. I think this is all a ploy to get good ratings and I have to say as they usually do, they are fooling us and we are buying into it. I swear they are becoming really exhausting. SMH!

Drake-351

So Drizzy Drake who’s now my brother bae after comrade bae Ndlozi, just revealed that he and Nicki Minaj no longer speak. In an interview Drake mentioned Nicki when asked a question and mentioned how they have not spoken in a long time, this is weird , clearly they are not as great of friends as we might have thought. Drake also revealed that he has great chemistry with Riri in case you have not noticed and he also said that he has not worked with Jay Z because they never seem to get each other or gel (interesting) – he however sang praises for Kanye and called him a genius. Maybe Kanye is not that bad people!

rs_1024x759-150222214243-1024.Kerry-Washington-Viola-Davis-Oscars.ms.022215

The first ladies of Shondaland, Kerry Washington and Viola Davis just scored major deals with the ABC network. The two powerhouses have inked productions deals with ABC. They will be working (separately) on creating content for the network. Kerry started off with her Confirmation project in which she stars in and also her company produces. Did you know Kerry’s hubby Nnamdi Asomugha is also an exec producer on Idris Elba’s Beasts Of No Nation? Bravo to the two ladies. I like how Shonda Rhimes is helping empower black women in television.

YahooNewsABCNewsWhiteHouseCorrespondentshPHrFvoL_RMl_zps0owcmz9w

Speaking of Kerry, girl is under preggars watch in the US. Apparently she might be carrying her second child with hubby and the speculation has risen due to interesting fashion choices she has been making lately and also most pictures she has been taking have had her hands in front of her belly. If she is pregnant – congrats.

whitney_houston-news-article21612

Apparently there’s am official Whitney Houston documentary coming soon. The doccie is said to be commissioned . The doccie will feature interviews of a lot of close friends of Ms Houston and it will tell of the singers life story, the rise and fall. The family has given it’s blessings and it should be released in 2017. I hope it’s something alongside the lines of the AMY documentary or Nina Simone – i will be going to see it.

kimnewface

And then there was Lil’ Kim and her bleaching and IG filters – modimo!

JC what’s good?

Sports News Update.

A long weekend, braai with the guys, some drinks, blah blah blah… This weekend was sure sports filled and just where do we begin? Hmmmm England of course.

Let’s get the wheels rolling in England were Leicester City carved a piece of history when they upset the 5000-1 bookmakers tag by clinching the lucrative English Premier League crown against all odds. This is the greatest achievement in British sport.

01

Leicester City were crowned champions of England for the first time in the club’s 132-year history after nearest challengers Tottenham Hotspur could only manage a 2-2 draw away to Chelsea on Monday. Congratulations to the #FearlessFoxes.

They are England’s first new title-winners since Brian Clough’s Nottingham Forest 1978 and their surge to glory in the world’s most-watched football championship will go down as one of the most improbable feats in sporting history.

Their previous best season in the English top flight was a second-place finish in 1929 and their last piece of silverware had been the 2000 League Cup

03

Back home, Mamelodi Sundowns inspired their title aspirations on Saturday night by brushing troubled Kaizer Chiefs 3-1. That win means that the Brazilians now need just four points from their three remaining league games to claim the 2015/16 Premiership title.

After the match, coach Pitso Mosimane stated that the title is now theirs to lose as they are now firmly in the drivers seat though the journey will be a stressful one.

Very hectic, very stressful, but be that as it may, Barca are stressing, Real Madrid are stressing, Bayern are made to wait, Leicester are waiting……I’m not saying we are on the same level but I’m saying the stresses and the pressures [are the same at this time of the season]. But it’s okay, we added [three points],” said bro Pitso.

04

Meanwhile, AmaKhosi boss Steve Komphela attested that the better team had to win.

The spirit of brotherhood will always be there but football is a mini-war where and there’s a lot at stake when you represent a multitude of supporters…..As much as they say they know where the trophy is, we are going to pull their line at some stage but for now it is theirs, we accept. But there’s always a next time. You know things are not pointing your way when you get a red card, when you concede a penalty, when you have an own-goal and more of your reliable players are starting to show their shoulders and things are not working.” Khomphela

He also criticized referee Robert Smith for the way he handle the match, adding that flashing yellow cards was the wrong way to handle such a big game.

07

Yeah neh, but that Willard Katsande own goal is one of the most classical the PSL has witnessed by a mile.

Bidvest Wits threw their title hopes down the drain after they were held to a 1-1 draw by a spirited Chippa United side. Wits now have to play that “Lets hope they lose” game.

On Friday night bottom of the table Maritzburg United coach Ernst Middendorp came out guns blazing criticising SuperSport United for what he felt was a lack of sportsmanship, following his side’s 2-1 defeat at Harry Gwala Stadium. Middendorp is fuming that SuperSport scored while one of his players was on the ground.

The relegation battle intensified on Sunday as Charlton Mashumba helped Jomo Cosmos beat University of Pretoria 1-0 at the Olen Park in Potchefstroom. The victory took Ezenkosi up to 14th on the Absa Premiership standings, while AmaTuks dropped down to 15th on the league table. Polokwane City are 13th after playing out a goalless draw with Black Aces.

09

In the Indian Premier League, Royal Challengers Bangalore bowling coach Allan Donald (yes the former South African bowling coach and Protea legend) says he is in awe of AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli’s efforts in the IPL, and is glad they’re on his team and his bowlers don’t have to face them.

South Africa Test and ODI skipper De Villiers and India counterpart Kohli have formed a good partnership for RCB over the years, and Donald feels they are invaluable in terms of runs and leadership.

The pair have put on three century stands in the first few games of the season alone, and Donald said: “I’m just glad I’m the bowling coach who doesn’t have to talk about them in bowlers’ meetings. (They’re) two of the best young players in the world that you wish to see in one dressing room.”

Well, a debate for another day is that of South African players pulling the right plugs in IPL yet they “choke” in Protea colours. Kwenzakalani bandla?

Onto rugby now, It was a bad weekend for South African franchises in the Vodacom Super Rugby competition. The Lions suffered their third loss of the season when they came up short 50-17 against the Hurricanes at Emirates Airline Park on Saturday.

10

The Jaguares scored eleven tries to clinch their first home victory, running out 73-27 winners over the Kings. The Reds secured only their second victory of the season when they beat the Cheetahs 30-17 in Brisbane.

Super Rugby leaders the Chiefs made it eight wins out of nine this season but had far from an easy ride in their 24-22 win over the Sharks in New Plymouth on Friday.

Maties were crowned as this years Varsity Sevens Rugby in Cape Town after defeating UWC in the final. Remember sevens rugby will be played for the first time this year at the Olympics Games in Brazil so everything ‘sevens’ is being recognised bahlali.

In Europe, it’s down to the second legs in the semi finals of the UEFA Champions League. Bayern Munich host defensive Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night with the later carrying a slender 0-1 lead. Speedy winger Arjen Robben is expected to miss this one again.

On Wednesday night, surprise semi finalists Manchester City visit the Spanish capital for a date with Real Madrid. The two sides managed a goalless draw in the first leg and there is everything to fight for. Team news has it that Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema will be available for selection.

Arsen

With Leicester City, Juventus and PSG having claimed their respective league titles,  Arsenal fans seem to be clashing amongst themselves. One section wants Arsene Wenger out of the club while the other want him to stay. Bathi his not won the league in 12 years yet it has taken Claudio Ranieri just 9 months to lift the championship crown. Hehehe. Wenger could be joining the list of managers who might be going out this summer – Van Gaal, Martinez and crew. Or is it VMW?

In Spain the championship race is still a three horse race with Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid all in it with a bang. This one will surely be decided on the final day.

Formula One championship leader Nico Rosberg chalked up his seventh win in a row at the Russian Grand Prix on Sunday with teammate Lewis Hamilton fighting back from 10th on the grid to seal a Mercedes one-two finish.

In a race that started with chaos, and Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel being shunted into the wall by Red Bull’s Russian Daniil Kvyat, Rosberg had an untroubled afternoon from pole to chequered flag for his 18th career win.

On a parting shot, “Mr Money” Floyd Mayweather has hinted that he might return to the ring. Ladies and gentlemen lets get ready to rumble….. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

Mama’s Corner: The Pregnancy To Do List.

$
0
0

Finding that you are expecting can be scary sometimes especially when it is your first baby, one tends to automatically switch to panic mode. I have compiled (with the help of the Internet of course) a to-do list from making sure you’re really pregnant to lining up a caregiver/ Gynecologist and creating a baby budget. And don’t worry about checking off every item – just use this as a helpful guide.

#1 Making Sure You Are Really Pregnant.

01

I know most of us have had that force alarm that got us buying every pregnancy test that’s available at click’s store’s shelves. Most home pregnancy tests can accurately detect pregnancy in the week after your period is normally due – two weeks after you ovulate. If the test shows a negative or a faintly positive result, it’s best you see a GP or Gynecologist for a scan which will detect if you are really expecting or it’s a false alarm.

Once you get the results that you are pregnant it’s OK to faint lol, but on a serious note – it’s OK to be in a panic mode. Even married women cry and panic, inform your partner and make the valid choice. If you want to terminate or keep the baby make sure it is communicated to your partner and the decision shouldn’t be a decision you later regret.

04

If you have decided to keep your bundle of joy, please I beg you to take your prenatal vitamin. If you haven’t started taking a prenatal vitamin yet, now’s the time to start. It’s particularly critical to get enough folic acid while trying to conceive and during your first trimester. Folic acid greatly reduces your baby’s risk of developing neural tube birth defects such as spina bifida. Speak to your caregiver/ Gynecologist for the different prenatal vitamins. Government Clinics also offer prenatal vitamins. (Side Note moisturize your body invest in body butter and oils, but that’s a topic for another day my friend.)

#2 Choose a Caregiver/Gynecologist

03

If you already have a caregiver/Gynecologist you love (who cares for pregnant women and delivers babies), you’re set. If not, you’ve got some homework to do. Talk to friends and relatives, ask one of your other healthcare providers to recommend someone, check out the preferred providers under your health insurance plan, don’t rely on online search they might be misleading.

#3 Make a Prenatal Appointment

opties_prenatal

Many caregivers/Gynecologist won’t see you until you’re at least 8 weeks pregnant, but you’ll want to get on their calendar well before this since appointments can fill up fast, Please make sure you book for an appointment and also inquire about the cancelling appointment procedures as many Gynecologist will charge you a consultation fee if you don’t cancel well within 24hrs.

  1. Jot down the first day of your last period so your caregiver can determine your due date
  2. Jot down any questions you might have for your caregiver. Talk to relatives on both sides about your families’ medical history.
  3. Your caregiver will want to know whether any chronic conditions or genetic abnormalities run in either of your families.
  4. Consult your caregiver about medications you’re taking
  5. Stop drinking alcohol and smoking.
  6. Cut down on caffeine
  7. Drink water
  8. Start avoiding hazardous foods (During pregnancy it’s important to avoid foods that could contain bacteria, parasites, or toxins – including under-cooked meat, unpasteurized soft cheese, anything that contains raw eggs, sushi made with raw fish, raw oysters, shellfish, fish that’s high in mercury, and raw sprouts.Use caution with deli-style salads especially those containing protein, like egg, chicken, ham, and seafood, hot dogs and luncheon meats, and smoked meats and meat spreads.) Do your best to eat well (Don’t worry if you can’t eat a well-rounded diet in your first trimester – nausea can make this impossible. Just do the best you can to follow the seven principles of eating well during pregnancy.)

#4 Consider your options for prenatal testing

06

During your first trimester, your caregiver will offer you various screening tests that can give you information about your baby’s risk for Down syndrome as well as other chromosomal problems and birth defects. A diagnostic test called chorionic villus sampling (CVS) may also be offered – this is generally done at 11 to 12 weeks. Or you may consider waiting until your second trimester for amniocentesis. I would advise that one takes a partner/friend or family member when going for a CVS.

  1. Learn the signs of a pregnancy problem so you can communicate these with your caregiver. Think about when and how you’ll announce your pregnancy I waited until I was in my second trimester when I knew my pregnancy was well established and the risk of miscarriage had declined significantly. I shared it with everyone else although my partner had already told half of his world.
  2. Follow your baby’s development
  3. Join a Birth Club
  4. Start taking belly photos
  5. Start a daily ritual to connect with your baby- Talk to your partner about parenting their fears and expectations. Get ready to see or hear your baby (At a prenatal visit around 9 to 12 weeks- this is the best feeling ever, I had tears of joy throughout the whole day)
  6. Start a baby name list
  7. Make a baby budget -Think about how you’ll handle new-baby expenses – the cost of clothes, food, diapers, toys, and gear can add up fast. Brainstorm where you can trim your budget to make room for your baby’s needs. Consider making some budget adjustments now, and start banking your savings for your baby.
  8. HAVE SEX – It reduces contractions when about to give birth, your caregiver/Gynecologist will also advise this, make sure your partner is present.

I know it’s been a minute since we last spoke, life is being life and I’m just allowing it to do as it pleases ngami yazi only God knows kwenzakalani… anywho let’s talk about more interesting things. I would assume you know about the new Mall Of Africa at Waterfall (Midrand) by now, well I was there minding my own business walking around checking out the Mall and I ended up at one of my ultimate favourite store WOOLWORTHS! And they were having a little sumtin something, I gate crashed! LOL and this is what the intimate get together was about…

20160428_181713

It’s being hailed as the largest shopping mall in the country but anchor tenant, Woolworths, aims to do its part to ensure that the new R5bn Mall of Africa in Midrand, Gauteng, treads lightly on the Earth. Niyamazi ke u-Woolworths being Woolworths they were giving away shopping vouchers to WRewards cardholders worth a R1000 to their first 100 customers

mega style concept icon Dion Chang gave us a run down of what to expect from the Eco-chic store.

20160428_182643

FOOD THAT CARES

In addition to a new-look Foods store complete with a chocolate hub, fish market and butchery, coffee connoisseurs can now indulge their senses at the in-house roastery within WCafe – the retailer’s deliberate move towards creating more “deli-type shopping environments”.

20160428_182621

FASHION THAT CARES

Customers can now shop a dedicated footwear department and over 6000m2 of fashion from Studio.W, RE:, David Jones Collection and JT One, as well as Australian premium brands Country Road, Trenery, MIMCO and Witchery – all of which have standalone stores in-house. FoxBox express manicures and EyeCandy eyebrow threading offer a convenient stop within the glittering new beauty department which overlooks a large, dramatic atrium.

20160428_181545

Collaborating exclusively on a once-off initiative called ‘Totes For Good’, Woolies commissioned three young designers – Pichulik, AKJP and Rich Mnisi – to customise a plain tote in a style or design of their choice. Each bag was sold via a first-of-its-kind Twitter auction on opening night, of which 100% of the proceeds benefitted The Clothing Bank (www.theclothingbank.org.za), a non-profit organisation that empowers unemployed mothers through enterprise development.

Before we go to this week of The Voice SA I thought it best to give you a glimpse of what transpired last week.

20160501_165227

I was seated on the left side of the stage which allowed me to see the talent from the sides most of the time and I would watch in awe of the talent we have in South Africa until Zoe (whom was the last contestant to take the stage). She gave an extremely dramatic performance that led me to looking at nothing but her lip movement and the projected sound from the speakers, it wasn’t matching. So I looked around the stage to see if I’m going to spot backing vocalists as I had scanned the stage prior but there weren’t any. I was then convinced they were giving us the Beyonce Live performances which technically is not live but live. hehehe

After the show I went to ask the show’s director Darren of my suspicions, he admitted that their talent had backing sounds prerecorded prior the show to give it that world class/standard sound but they were singing live to us… making sense?

And this what was sung:

#TeamBobby

20160417_174004

  • Austin Lurring opened the show with the local hit, “Raphael” by Beatenberg.
  • Xanilee Hammond sang Adele’s “Fire To The Rain”. flat but passable.
  • Gavin Edwards  performed “Second Hand Heart” from Kelly Clarkson and Ben Haenow. I was mot blown away.

#TeamKaren

20160417_181211

  • Jono Grayson, gave it his all with Michael Bublé’s version of the old classic, “Feelin’ Good”.  he didn’t do justice to the song, i kept on waiting for him to break the shell but he never did.
  • Thapelo Lekoane, sang the Bon Jovi anthem, “Living’ On a Prayer” as a ballad. as I write this I can’t recall his performance
  • Almur Marais performed Just Jinger’s “What He Means”.

#TeamKahn

20160417_171357

  • Clemour Ngobeni gave it a go with Drake’s “Hotline Bling”. I loved Clemour the first time they went live and I still love him. the boy is talented.
  • Prime Zulu sang Meatloaf’s hit, “I’d Do Anything For Love”.
  • Richard Stirton performed “Don’t You Worry Child” from Swedish House Mafia.

#TeamLira

20160417_183135

  • Jono Johansen performed the Avicii hit “Wake Me Up”. All i can remember is his body not his performance.
  • Robin Pieters sang Beyoncé’s “Listen”  i was not convinced at all. he was strained and his entire performance was underwhelming.
  • Jeremy Olivier (40) from Cape Town, who performed James Morrison’s “Broken Strings”.
  • 20160501_173314This boy blew me away shem! big ups to him representing blind folks infact wonke umntu. get up and get yours irrespective of your circumstances!
  • Zoe, Thembeka and the other two guys were saved from eliminations for this week.

20 Year Celebration of OUR Constitution…

I woke up not feeling for anything but staying in bed and stuffing up myself. I eventually got up made breakfast started playing with my TV remote and I landed up on Enca, they were broadcasting LIVE the celebration of Our Constitution! Our constitution, is our document to sanity and it needs to be fought for as it seems to be straying off in the hands of our current leaders… sadly I don’t have a fancy decoder so I could not record , rewind and pause this as I was busy in the kitchen but I can say I’m a FAN of Tat’ Mbeki’s work (excluding his alleged mention on the arms deal). I loved how he ended his speech by saying the constitution is a guideline to and for everyone staying or living in South Africa, we should make ourselves familiar with it even our president. *The shade*

Thabo_Mbeki_

I feel for Musi Mmaimane for him being made the butt of every joke but I tell you that is a wise move for him.

Are you watching the Speech and what do you think of this discussion?… all i can say is I’m abandoning my Sunday pots for this

Happy belated #MothersDay to all the mothers in the JC camp. I hope you had an amazing day yesterday being treated like queens and also treated your mothers like queens. :-)

01

It’s been drama after drama in celebville as usual. Remember DJ Bongz and his gwara gwara caps that he’s selling for R800 each?

02

04

Then there was this American company that threatened Bongz with legal action for using their image.

03

05

Bongz wasn’t bothered and carried on with his gwara gwara. Lol

06

I wanna say congrats to Boity on buying a house. She was made fun off on Twitter. Tweeps were saying she purchased an office block blah blah. That’s human beings for you.

07

I honestly don’t see anything wrong with this house. During all the negativity, some put on their detective caps and the next thing we were shown how much the mansion costs and where it’s situated. Once again, congrats Boitumelo. *in my best Lolo voice* Thenganizindlu….Lol

08

Rapulana Seiphemo is becoming a problem now. Apparently he was involved in another accident and wrote off the car that the insurance gave him after he wrote off the other one in that accident where 3 people died. There is no way this can be normal. Can they just take away his license once? He is out of control now. Bathi he was drunk during the accident and what’s worse is that he asked the cops to cover up for him and they obviously agreed because there is no record of the accident. SMH!!

Kaizer Motaung Jr and Katherine

Kaizer Motaung Jnr is also in hot water after he allegedly moered his wife Katherine during an argument. He was arrested and appeared in court. Apparently he asked the court officials on Thursday that his case be heard before others because he had a plane to catch. The Magistrate is said to have lost his cool with the Prosecutor for giving Kaizer special treatment.

09

Still on losers that beat women…..Isibaya actor Andile Gumbi aka Zweli is another one. It’s reported that he spent Freedom day behind bars for punching his wife. This was after the wife locked him outside their house, he broke down the door and went in for his wife, beat the hell out of her and dragged her across the floor. Sigh!

winniem

The Qunu gate keeps reopening. We know Mam’ Winnie has been fighting for that house, and now the locals are said to be involved and are on a mission to kick Mam’ Graca Machel out. They are saying the house belongs to Winnie and it was not supposed to be in the will. The leader of the #KickGracaOut team is Nokuzola Mndende and she said; ‘Akekho umfazi ohlala emzini womunye umfazi. Graca Machel has no right to be there. I don’t care what the judges are saying because they are wrong. Culturally, that house belongs to Winnie and her children. She is being discriminated against simply because she has no sons.’ O___o

Another Qunu resident said; ‘I was there when Winnie got the site. It was a Saturday and she was accompanied by Bantu Holomisa’. As you can see above, uHolomisa uyafunga uyagomela, he is denying ever accompanying Mam’ Winnie. Yazi mna if I was Mam’ Graca, I’d give up that house nje and continue with my life. It’s not like she needs it. She must just give it all up for her sanity and health considering she is also not a spring chicken. I love Mam’ Graca and I don’t want her to have high blood pressure over unnecessary wars. The way I see it, Mam’ Winnie is wrong for claiming things after Tata’s passing. If the house is really hers then why didn’t the residents fight uTata a long time ago?

SS has a story about Cassper Nyovest refusing to perform at a 5fm gig where the turn out was way less than he expected. There were less 100 people and uCassper was not having it. I mean from filling up the dome to performing for less than 100 people??? Ku rough. LMAO! He eventually performed after being begged for 15minutes. Ok, how does this music thing work kante? I am assuming he got paid to perform there, does this mean if they had not begged him to perform he was choosing to return the money? #Levels

I had a TJO moment when I read about Basetsana Kumalo’s diva tendencies. SS says Ausi Bassie was having drinks at a sun deck of some hotel in Sandton with her sister Johanna and Zama Kodwa (Zizi’s wife). They then went to the bathroom and that is when all things went left. Ausi Bassie is using crutches because of the cast on her leg, when they got to the bathroom, she refused to stand in a queue and started banging on the disabled toilet door where there was someone. The person came out eventually, and Bassie lost her cool when she realised that the lady wasn’t disabled. She started shouting at everyone, and even went to management to complain. Apparently she demanded an apology and told them she has shares there. Johanna and Zama are said to have been embarrassed by Bassie’s tantrums and they disappeared from the scene leaving her all alone. Jah neh!!!

Shame, things seem to be getting worse and worse for Winnie Khumalo. I was shocked that she was involved in a fatal accident in my hood where a pedestrian was killed. Winnie is said to have been travelling with a friend in the car that killed a pedestrian. SS didn’t reveal who was behind the wheel because Winnie told them that they’ve been ordered not to talk about the accident because someone died.

Another story that touched me was that of siblings Sarah and Wright Ngubeni who got hijacked outside their parents’ house. According to Sarah, Wright had run back into the house to pick up something for work and when he came back to the car, 4 armed men approached him. They forced him back into Sarah’s car and drove off with them telling them that they are not going to hurt them, all they want is the car. They took off the tracker, robbed them of phones and other belongings and then dumped them next to a plot in Kyalami. They were helped by a security car that was passing by. My stomach was turning as I read this. They are lucky to be alive. Imagine if the parents had to lose both their kids just like that? Thixo!! :-(

Once again a confusing/misleading Zuma headline. This one is actually about Msholozi’s daughter whose name wasn’t even mentioned by SW. I don’t know if they were instructed not to mention any names. Anyway, Msholozi’s daughter is said to be going through a very bitter divorce. She is demanding R120 000 monthly maintenance but the husband wants to pay R67 000 because he says she is financially independent. Yhuuuuuu, just when I thought Zoe Mthiyane’s demands were above and beyond….this woman wants R120K a month y’all. R120K??? Wow!! The man says his wife was physically and mentally abusive to him during the marriage. TJO! Which one of Msholozi’s daughters is this?

Tbo Touch

Tbo Touch will be back on air today. He was given a final warning after costing SABC/Metro R15 Million in revenue by refusing to follow instructions, and choosing to do his own thing during the show and that led to Hyundai cancelling its R15M contract.

eugene

It’s rough in these streets. Do you remember Eugene Mthethwa from the Kwaito group Trompies? He is being investigated for fraud by Samro. Apparently he applied for a bursary for his daughter and told them that she was actually an orphan (his late brother’s daughter). Samro gives bursaries to the less fortunate so Eugene took the easy way out and lied just so his daughter could benefit. Now this is where it gets worse….from my understanding, this was revealed by his baby mama who had once taken him to court for papgeld. Eugene was/is in arrears ka R42K kwi maintenance but told the courts that he was actually paying the daughter’s tuition fees. The baby mama will argue in court on the 18th May that the tuition fees that Eugene claims to have been paying, the money didn’t come from him but Samro so basically he still ain’t paying sh*t. Hehehehehe, I’m still on the fact that he said his daughter is an orphan.

Congrats to AJ who has landed a job on uKhozi fm. It seems his star is getting brighter and brighter. He is passionate about music and being a DJ, so to see him finally getting this break is heart-warming. Tango Ncetezo is another talented actress and I am happy that she has joined the e.tv family and will be on Z’bondiwe season 2 which airs on Tuesdays @ 9:30pm. #BerekaMosadi

Talking about my e.tv family, Drum reports that the real reason Masasa Mbangeni left Scandal was because everyone was taking a pay cut and she wouldn’t so she chose to quit. ‘Everyone took a pay cut, so she also had to take one but she felt that she was being underpaid for bringing more viewers to Scandal.’ – Drum

From one soapie drama to the next. Apparently Thando Thabethe and fellow actress Thulisile Phongolo don’t see eye to eye. Bathi uThando got mad that Thulisile got an MC gig that paid her R15K a day for 2days. She was upset that she should have gotten the job not Thulisile because she’s been in the industry longer and has more experience. If this is true then Thando has a long way to go honestly. #OpenUpTheIndustry #PettinessMustFall

It’s now official. Mzwandile Ngubeni and Nolwazi Shange have tied the knot. Congrats to them.

Have a good week guys. Please do share with us any other news that caught your attention. :- )

I hope all of our mommy readers and future mums had a lovely holiday and got spoiled. Now let’s get into it…

I don’t know if you have seen this but Ms Jackson (If you’re nasty) just dropped a video for her latest single off the Unbreakable album called Damn Baby, well more like Dzamn Baby! Not only did she surprise us with an unexpected single but it’s been “confirmed” that Janet is indeed pregnant at almost 50 years of age – miracles. I am so happy for her – she deserves all the happiness. See what money and good doctors and the grace of God (in her case Allah) can do for you. Side note: In the video she starts by saying, “I need to hear me…”. I couldn’t stop laughing at this as many people have laughed at her voice and some saying that Janet is always on “mute”. I guess that was a play at that for her.

From one pregnancy to the other; Blac Chyna just schooled us all on how to get back on a man that dogs you. It’s official Chyna is pregnant with Rob Kardashian’s baby. Reports say that they are expecting a boy – damn. That little boy will be responsible for carrying the Kardashian name. Now that’s how you get even. I am out of words, Blac needs to write a guide on this right here, in less than six months she has gotten a Lambo, a ring and a baby and can you imagine the opportunities that will be coming next? Her own spin-off reality show, fashion line, oh and she has an emoji app coming soon hence the emoji announcement.

And you know the internet would ride on this. They are calling the child Karma Kardashian. I am failing to even.. I cant even! I just have one request for Blac Chyna, she needs to set her mum, Tokyo Toni straight that woman is messy and if she is not careful she will hinder her from walking down the isle, she will be just another baby mama. The Kardashian family tree just got interesting.

Still on the baby train, how cute is Royalty? Damn Chris Brown made a beautiful one here. I just refuse to acknowledge that things on his hair. Is me or is Royalty giving us Miss Monroe Carey – Cannon sans the glasses?

summer-jam-lauryn-hill

So Lauryn Hill set the Twitter streets alight over the weekend because she was over two hours late for her concert in Atlanta. A fan confronted her and she was rather rude about it and I have to say as a fan I was disappointed. I just do not appreciate people who disrespect other people’s money. If I am paying to come see you, you better be on time and leave your guts on that stage – it’s simple it’s a business transaction. If you’re not feeling like it then cancel and refund me. I just didn’t appreciate when people started putting down The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill – that album much like Amy Winehouse’s Back To Black is a body of work that will stand the test of time, it broke so many boundaries and with that one album Lauryn has managed to outsell most of your faves. And to further prove the greatness of the album people are still paying money to go hear Lauryn sing the album so no slander should made. Rant over.

Remember Lupita’s Nina Simone inspired hair-do for the Met Gala? So VOGUE had to go TRY all of us by comparing Lupita to Audrey Hepburn and allude to her hair being inspired by Ms. Hepburn. I actually do not know where that writer got all of that, maybe it’s a cultural reference thing, cause when I saw her on the red carpet I immediately thought, oh that hair is an ode to Nina Simone.

luphair1

Lupita posted the above on her IG and schooled Vogue on who actually inspired her hairstyle. She didn’t have to say much. In her short clip she showed her hair next to her inspiration references including Nina Simone and other African women who have been(were) doing this before it was “fashionable”. Lupita 1 – Vogue 0.

So did you know that your girl Karrueche is now a two-time EMMY winner ( let that set for a little while). Kae won the daytime accolades for a web series called The Bay. I have to say I am happy for ol’ girl and she has been soaring since leaving her ex Chris Brown. She has worked this ex situation and the publicity it brought into a rather flourishing acting career and I aint mad. Like Blac Chyna, you have to work your situation into your benefit (Well seems like Blac Chyna also learned something from being Kim Kardashian’s friend). Can we talk about how good Kae looks? Hair- check, ensemble – check – bag – check, shoes – double check!

Kim is on the latest issue of VOGUE Australia and I have to say, I think it’s one of the better covers she has done in a while. In the magazine she talk about living a nomral life and that if she was “normal” and had a “normal” career she would have been a forensics investigator – mmmkay!

To end it off with a bang let’s leave it with Nia freaking Long. This is what 40-plus year old women look like. #AgingGoals

5 Things Jay Is Curious About!

1

Virginity testing, how accurate is it? In these times of corruption and bribery has it ever occurred to anyone that the “testers” can be bought? Apart from the “testing” are there any other accurate signs to show that someone is no longer a virgin? And also would it not be more advantageous for us to teach our girl children about safe sex as opposed to us obliging them to not to engage in sexual activities because it is something that will inevitably happen anyway.

2

Gender equality, why do we still have homes where the “chores for girls/boys” rule still applies? I believe the time of girls not being able to change their car tyres and boys not being able to cook themselves a 7 colour meal is long gone. Get with the program!

3

When did our township high schools become so ratchet? Miniskirts, fishnets, red lips, cleavages, fleeking eyebrows, hoop earrings etc. Why are we as parents allowing (lack of a better word) such? Why are our pupils looking like video vixens? How are the teachers and the male pupils coping with having so much nakedness in their faces every day?

4

Since the bible says men must love their wives and the wives must respect their husbands; would it be so wrong to respond ‘I respect you’ when your man tells you that he loves you?

5

Why are there Black South African children who are only fluent in English? I find it ridiculous when there has to be an interpreter for a conversation between a grandparent and a grandchild. Growing up in the suburbs and going to a multiracial school should never be an excuse for parents not to teach their children their native languages.
