I love movies actually I’m an addict. So I decided to compile my top movies and share them with you. These are the movies I never get tired of watching. I made sure that I get them on DVD so that whenever I give me some me time, I just load them up and re watch over and over again.

In proper particular order here we go;

25 – Money Talks

This is one crazy movie. You see Chris Tucker’s madness nje. I love Chris, he is a brilliant comedian. He does talk too much and I wonder if he is like that in real life. So Chris and Charlie Sheen together then you know it’s on fire. My favourite scene is when after getting the diamonds in the Jaguar at an auction, he tells his girlfriend that he is gonna buy her a country. Lol

24 – Soul Plane

The Movie that introduced me to Kevin Hart. I love it. There is a scene where they were trying to land a plane after the pilot (Snoop Dogg) died. Lol, they were helped by one the air hostesses that used to date a pilot and she said the only way she’d remember how her pilot used to land it, is to sit in certain positions for her memory to come back. Those positions were all sexual, meaning they used to do the “did” in the air. Madness!

23 – The Brothers

This movie has all the hotness. The storyline is amazing. That scene where Shemar Moore dumps his fiancé 2 weeks before the wedding. He so disrespected her shem, he even did it via answering machine. Lol, what a coward. But the challenging one was when Morris Chestnut found out that his girlfriend once dated his father. Yhuuuuuuu

22 – Fakin’ Da Funk

I am thrown right back to my childhood by this movie. I remember how my little brother and I used imitate the scenes. We had it on Video Cassette and we knew every dialogue. This movie is about a Chinese young lady that visited the USA and her host family happened to be black and living in the ghetto. DRAMA!!! And then there was a Chinese guy that was blacker that all the black cast put together. Gosh! The cast was amazing, Tatiana Ali, Duane Martin, Tishina Arnold and my favorite khehla, John Witherspoon. Who doesn’t like that old man though? He is just too funny.

21 – Not Easily Broken

This one is really touching. It shows what married couples go through. The challenges based on having different interests in life and also having a mother that tells you how to run your marriage. Sigh!

 20 – Bad Boys II

I’m sure you all know this one. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are legends. My favourite character is the Captain. That man kills me. I just burst out laughing when I think about him. From the Woosa moments, to his clothes to taking off shoes before you enter his office…Kwaaaaaaaaaaaaa

19 – The Family That Preys

Another reality check with this one. Brilliant story line and acting. This movie introduced me to the song I Hope You Dance by Gladys Knight. I am telling you that song brings out the best in me in ways you can’t even imagine. It just talks to me.

18 – A Thin Line Between Love And Hate

Trying very hard not to laugh. Martin Lawrence is not normal. This is a movie for boys to choose what they say and mean it, otherwise you will be in sh!t. Lynn nails her part to the core. That scene where she messes up with Martin’s car tyres right in front of a police station. Lol

17 – Shottas

One of the most violent movies I’ve ever watched. It’s scary, it’s bloody but I can never get enough. Maybe it’s because of KyMani….Mmmmm! It’s more than a decade later and they are working on a sequel. I hear Mavado is a part of it. I can’t wait.

16 – Diary Of A Mad Black Woman

This is another common one, I love it as well. Storyline aside, I also enjoyed the last church scene when Debra walks in unexpectedly and joins in the singing. My daughter and I always stand up for that part and we just sing out loud. Lol

15 – Blue Streak

Martin…..Martin…..What can I say? :-)

14 – Brown Sugar

This is a popular one I’m sure. No need for me to dwell on the story line. When did you fall in love with Hip Hop? is what I wanna know. Hehehehe

13 – Juice

Most people say Boyz N The Hood leads the old school ghetto list but I say it’s Juice. Tupac Shakur went and changed the game on here. Moooooeeer!!! I love that part where he says “Yes, I am crazy. But you know what else? I don’t give a f*ck.” The way he says it…OMG!!

12 – Love And Basketball

A favorite for many. I loved the soundtrack as well. Beautiful storyline too.

11 – Why Did I Get Married?

I can say I salute Tyler Perry for giving us a woman like Angela. She really balanced things on there. She is comedy.

10 – How Stella Got Her Groove Back

The hotness that is Angela Basset will make you wanna stop your exercise routine and write her a letter. This is a proper Ben10 portrayal in this movie. The sex scenes were on fire. Also loved that scene when Maxi Priest’s Art Of Seduction plays in the background.

9 – Soul Food

Another movie with Hotties. TJO!! You just watch and stare. Hotness all round from both sexes. I loved the storyline but I get emotional when watching it. It’s one of those that are kinda too close to home. :-(

8 – Waiting To Exhale

Yhuuuuuu, who can forget how Angela Basset was dumped by her husband bandla? No beating about the bush or sugar coating. Straight talk  ‘I am leaving you for her.’ This movie also has the best soundtrack.

7 – Breakin’ All The Rules

Lol, can I laugh? Jamie Foxx kills me here. Imagine you get dumped by your fiancé at your engagement party and it hurts you so bad that you end up writing a break up book? Basically teaching the fellas how to dump their women? LMAO!

6 – The Best Man

I love it….I love it. If I start writing about it I won’t stop. So let me stop now.

5 – Friday

This one is a classic. Ice Cube is one creative person. I can watch this on repeat and never get tired. Chris Tucker just makes it all worth it.

4 – Poetic Justice

Two of my favorites in one film was just God showing off shem. My Damita and my Tupac. We see the raw side of Janet and we see the soft side of  Tupac. What more could I have asked for? I still can’t believe there was drama behind the scenes when they were shooting it. Apparently Tupac was told to go for an HIV test before shooting a love scene with Janet. Yhuuuuuu, didn’t he blow up and tell them to go eat grass? Kudlaliwe ngaye shem, I would have blown up too. Athi ‘If we were really gonna make love I was gonna take 4 AIDS tests, but if I am just doing a love scene then there is no way I’ma take a test.’ Lol

3 – One Love

One of the most romantic movies I know. KyMani and my girl Cherine just serve this one on a silver platter. Love, Religion, Friendship, Music and pure Talent. Christian girl falls in love with a Rasta Man. Keep in mind, she is not just a Christian girl, she is a Pastor’s daughter that is already engaged to a former gangster. The drama!! And then there is the soundtrack…Thixo!!

2 – Love And A Bullet

I love romantic movies. This one is just brilliant. Treach is a contract killer who ends up falling in love with a girl and later on the girl is hired by Treach’s former boss to kill him. Killer is in love with another killer. What a mess?  Imagine dating a killer? And I am not talking about these 2cents killers. I am talking proper training, man in a suit, very clean type but most of all dangerous. This movie!!

1 – Set It Off

My number one. No doubt and no competition. Everything about this movie says rewind me. Sad moments, crazy moments, romantic moments, challenging moments, ndibala ntoni na. This movie shows 100% girl power without even trying. Women were in control. Another one I know word for word and scene for scene. It’s with me, it stays stuck in my head. The soundtrack is so on point as well. SET IT OFF!!

So these are my favourite movies. What are yours? :-)
