The SA Fashion Week got under way this past Thursday till Saturday. And on the Tuesday, the fashion-conscious folk of Jo’burg gathered at Katy’s Palace in Kramerville – Sandton, for the official opening party.
For a fashion do, I only spotted Gert Johan-Coetzee, Paledi and Craig Jacobs, where were the other mainstream designers? Ms Tlale? Thula Sindi? Machere? Anyway, the venue was packed with beautiful people in gorgeous outfits. Sadly fashion offenders were also there in full force. Spotted a Bobbi Kristina look alike, wearing a dress with zero support for her breast, and that was a sad sight. Ladies, if you are no Nomzamo Mbatha, with a full perky breast, please slap on a bra!
I refuse to comment on the lady sporting colourful braids, see-through smarties outfit, with the yellow socks to complete the look. Yhuck! Joan Rivers o re shiyelang!!
Minnie Dlamini is probably on Sweat 2000 now. She rocked up in a lil’ number showing off a well toned body, qinile-thunder thighs and sporting a short weave. Beautiful girl with a banging body! Who is she with now?
Lerato Kganyago looked err…stiff in her costume. Not in a sexual way of course, even though she was quite exposed. She has a great body but needs to relax and own it. She must learn from Tamryn, former Ms Earth, who comfortably rocked a lacy see-through number. Pity, the outfit is so late 2013. But she owned the look nonetheless.
Chad Saaiman says we must be on the look out for his album, dropping in the next few weeks. This brother is not only cosmetically beautiful, his voice is there as well. He sure sings better than Kiki’s Clint*hides* Another muso to look out for is Mahlatze, whose album is also dropping pretty soon. We wait with bated breaths.
Former queen of controversy Khanyi Mbau waltzed on the green carpet, accompanied by a young white man earlier on. I hope he’s not Thinus’ offspring, cause that would just be downright nasty. Or maybe she was baby sitting, akere there’s rumours of a new Caucasian sugar-suga! Team TenBillion neh, while others are hustling for Team TenTauzen*sips Joko*
Kwela Tebza brothers were there, and fortunately their silly season of matching outfits has lapsed. I overheard the brothers tell our Picay of SA being “in need of a sex tape of some sort, starring themselves, the grandfather of Kwaito music Arthur Mafokate and Dr Malinga…”. I wonder which ladies would be part of this cast? Naughty boys these.
Live musical performance of the night came from AKA, who was tjokotjing himself in a manner which is foreign to hip-hop. I suppose KO and his Cara-cara dance moves placed the industry under some serious pressures neh. DJ Zinhle’s Ben 10 was later joined on stage by BFF Da Les. They sure know how to keep the crowd glued onto their performance. They went on to perform all 19 tracks from their Double Deluxe Duets Album. There after, some DJ played such nice music, before we knew it the whole place was closing down. Blame it on the holy waters of Jameson!

A big thank you to Xander, Simphiwe and the rest of the Capacity Relations team, and obviously Jameson Select Reserve for a wonderful event!
