This week on our Around Africa we send a shout out to the Soccer Players. I promised a Blogger that I was going to do one about our African Soccer. I am not much of a soccer fan, but I do watch every now and then especially if it’s Country vs Country. That is when I really enjoy it. I laughed at myself when Lelo told me that Majoro has moved to Pirates, I had no idea. Luckily the article is about the countries (National Teams) they represent even though they might be playing for other clubs/teams in different countries.
Soccer is huge in Africa. We love it. We see these guys sweating it all on the pitch. We cuss, we scream, we get mad at them and when things are good, we celebrate.
Nigeria – Godfrey Itama Oboabona
The Naija guy plays as a defender, and he is 24years old.
Egypt – Ahmed El-Shenawy
There is just something about Egyptians when they are on that pitch. Ahmed is a goalkeeper. In 2011 he won an award for best goalkeeper in the African Youth Championship. He is 23years old.
Senegal – Abdoulaye Ba
I remember back in the day Senegal used to own this soccer hey. I was so hooked on the Senegalese soccer during the days when El Hadji Diouf was at the top of his game. Abdoulaye plays as a central defender. He is 23years old.
Ghana – Asamoah Gyan
This man is just lovable. I love him shem. He is my favorite soccer player after Cesc Fabregas. Gyan is the captain for the Ghanaian national team, and he plays as a striker. He is 29years old. I had the opportunity to meet him in 2010 when they were here for the world cup. #PricelessMoments
My boo. Ncooooooooo
Ghana – André Morgan Rami Ayew
Another one I met in 2010. He was so nunuz. He is Apedi Pele’s son, he plays as a winger. He is 24years old.
Ghana – Kevin-Prince Boateng
This 27year old drove women crazy in 2010. My friends were on about him. It was Kevin Prince this, Kevin Prince that…lol. When we had the opportunity to ‘chill’ with them, everyone was running to Prince and I was sitting there on some… O_o , just give me my Gyan.
Ivory Coast – Salomon Kalou
From the land of Didier Drogba, Salomon stands out for me. He plays as a striker and he is 29years old. He looks younger tho.
Algeria – Sofiane Feghouli
The 24year old Sofiane operates mainly as a right winger, he can also play as a midfielder.
Zambia – Jacob Mulenga
Lol, this one is for the likes of Soul Sista that are addicted to proper black men. Jacob is a striker. He is 30years old.
Zimbabwe – Milton Ncube
Milton is 27years old and he plays as a Forward.
Mali – Seydou Keita
Seydou is a versatile midfielder. He is 34years old.
Mali – Modibo Maïga
Modibo plays as a striker. Some of the pictures I saw of him neh? Moooooeeeer!! He is 27years old.
South Africa – Itumeleng Isaac Khune
Khune plays as a goalkeeper and he is also the captain for Bafana Bafana. He is 27years old.
South Africa – Lehlohonolo Majoro
He is a striker and he is 28years old. Mhle shem uMajoro.
South Africa – Andile Ernest Jali
The 24year old Jali’s star seems to be shining bright right now. Lelo told me he doesn’t play for any local club. That’s something I didn’t know. I really need to start watching local soccer. Lol
These are the African soccer players that have caught my eye lately, when representing their countries. If your favorite is not here, it means they have not drown me to them so don’t take it personal.
Please Note: I got the age info from Wikipedia. If it’s wrong, blame it on them. Lol
