I know I am not the only person who is a series addict so I thought I should share with you my watch list. If you already watch these shows share with us, well..everyone you thoughts on the storylines, the drama or the lack thereof.
I’m excited that Scandal aka The Fixer is back this Thursday. Shonda is the Queen of TV at the moment. I love her work and how she casts black women in powerful yet relatable roles. I can’t wait to see Jake, Fitz and Olivia. Will Olivia be seeking Vermont again? Or will she be standing in the sun? I can’t wait to see what happens with Huck and his son and baby mama. I wonder if Abby and David will pursue their relationship full force too. Will Cy be in love again? I’m curious about anything that has Papa Pope in it…Scandalous pun intended.
Also from Shondaland How To Get Away With Murder is back – we know Shonda rules Thursdays. I’m excited about the new season, well kinda. I loved the show but it got to a point where it was actually exhausting watching it. I guess it’s because it started very fast paced and almost every scene was worth a tweet or a gasp and somewhere along the way it got a little much. I do still believe in Viola and her wigs so I’m watching. Let’s see what ends up happening with that murder.
Being Mary Jane is also coming back and dear Lordt I need some sex scenes in my series diet. BMJ has been gone for a minute so much that I actually need to refresh my mind on the last season. Question is, will Mary Jane find drama-free new love this time around or will it be just good bounds of good sex?
I have just started getting into Empire and all I can say is DANG. The acting is brilliant. Well everyone on the show is great but Taraji P Henson plays the character of Cookie so well you would think she is cuckoo. I think I have shared the premise of the show with you before. It is a must-watch. The cast is brilliant, however I saw that some “African-Americans” were complaining about EMPIRE being yellow-bone central when it comes to lead actors. I guess there would always be a complaint about something. They also complained about Shonda Rhimes “pimping’ black women with white men. SIGH.
Empire’s competition 50 Cents’ Power is supposedly brilliant. I have to say I haven’t seen it yet but it is on my watch list (obviously). The show stars Naturi Naughton and Omari Hardwick (From Being Mary Jane). The premise of the show is about a nightclub owner who’s living the high life popping bottles and also hiding his drug dealing business. Sounds similar to Empire right? Let us know what you think if you have seen it.
The Affair is one of those series that you can’t stop watching. It’s beautifully, softly written and compelling. I like how they casted actors whom you don’t see often which makes it refreshing and in some ways “new”. The show is about an affair (duh) between a man and woman who are both married and unhappy. The story of their affair is narrated by both sides, splitting the episode into his part and her part. It’s incredible how the details of their affair differ from each other. The storyline is beautiful yet tragic and enchanting.
